Scrub should be a checkpoint

I'll lay odds they all ride within walking distance of it

It's a fair bet that they'll be crossing the ferry at some time

Campout should have been at The Swamp too

The ranger at Shell Mound campground in Cedar Key watches my bike while I go stay on my friend George's island

Question sounds great!

Looks like a great ride... Am planning to attend on BMW G650GS Sertao.

The Dixie Dual Sport group is doing similar ride the following weekend.

Will plan to stay at KOA Friday night and Cedar camping Saturday.

Where will the Sunday ride finish?

I'm based in Oxford, just west of The Villages.

Jeff

Eric from Camp Blanding and Rony have mentioned your group.

Eek DDS the following weekend?

Looks like I'm doing two similar rides... any idea how they may compare? DixieDualSport is using similar destinations the following weekend.

These are 2 totally different events. I do not know what the DDS route is or will be. This event is 2 days, one day over to Cedar Key and one day back. Each route is different for both days. There maybe some similar roads in the beginning and end of each route, but different from there. An example Cedar Key has only one road in and out.

The Trans Florida GS Rally is targeted to be a little more. Party/Dinner on Saturday Night and One Sunday Night. There is a bit of a game involved in this one. You need to collect some points along the way. As mentioned, pictures, local spots to check in at. Maybe even a swing by the Scrub etc.

We are still working on the actual starting and finishing locations. Some of that decision will depend on number of folks planing to join in. Finding a restaurant large enough to handle numbers etc. However, to put you within a few miles of the Start /Finish area, we are looking at A1A & Highbridge Rd (Ocean). This would be the S Old Dixie Hwy exit on I-95.

This event is intended to add to the DDS Event the following weekend. Some folks will have conflicts that weekend and some will have conflicts on this weekend. Now both ends of Bike week are covered so no one has an excuse.

Kewl beans... now to figure out how to downsize my camping equip to minimum for this ride. I'm sure in sand LESS is better. Not having to change clothes for three days helps.

Opps.. wrong part of Florida

Here are some sample shot of the areas we will be riding. In the next few weeks we will be dialing in the mileage on the route sheets and post up some choice pictures of the routes... Until then here are a couple

The optional water crossing for bonus points (although it has been so dry I think there is no water in this creek at the moment)

Fun stuff....

Mentioned this to Wifey and she would rather do this than the Scrub. Maybe I can play this into getting her to sign-off on a suitable 2 up adventure bike.
