Eagle Mike has the best customer service you will ever receive. Period. If Eagle Mike makes it, I'll choose his parts over anything else for my KLR.

If you're starting an EagleMike fan club, I'll join up. He and Mark from the KLR forum wouldn't let me leave for my 16,500 mile Alaska trip in 2005 until Mike helped me change the doohickey, Mark rebuilt my waterpump, and they both replaced or moved all my valve shims (in about 20 minutes). Mike drove all thew way up from San Diego to deliver doohickeys, subframe bolts, carb screws, y-hose connectors, side stand switch stuff and help everyone at that little tech day in Petaluma. Also gave me the knowledge and confidence to fix her myself on my trip. One of the most generous, enthusiastic and coolest guys you'll ever meet. Only met him once. Told me to call him any time.
BTW, I stupidly sold that perfectly good KLR for $2500 with 24,000 mi on the odo. The buyer took it on his own Alaska trip, then sold it a year later with 35,000 on it for $2900. The next owner turned it into a 3 wheel hack. She was a good horse--but she might not have been without Mike's help. |

Yearly Eagle Mike comment
I'm fortunate to be in San Diego close to Mike's shop. He answers the phone and provides solid advice on parts and maintenance.
My KLR sports 3 of his products and I plan to get a couple more soon (fork brace and trail jack). I'm a fan.

+1 EM is a true KLR guru. Has much info on new and upcoming products on the dedicated KLR site,. Seems there should be stroker kits and fuel injection to go with the big bore.

I do have a real beef with EMike!
When I ask him for a breakdown of specific information, he does not answer me. It is nothing super secret. I sometimes keep reminding him for months at a time and I know he is getting my requests! He has been doing it to me for many years now! He will know what I am onto him about! It has nothing to do with his parts. Generous, yes. A man of integrity, yes. An excellent engineer, yes. Stubborn, yes! |
