![]() Bought new by me in 1999, sold it a few years later and it changed hands few more times. Now it's back and looking pretty good for a 14 year old bike. Love the mean green. |

Old School
Picked this up from a friend who was moving. He bought it new when he lived in England. Still had the original tires and tubes. One sweet ride. He gave it to me. He said that way he didn't have to move it and he knew I would ride it. Raleigh Super Grand Prix

pretty, but dang! judging by the looks of it, you and your friend are both, what, about 6'5"?
original rubber?! must be because of that fancy double kickstand,... ![]() throw that rotten old rubber stuff away before you try riding it and it puts you on the ground. (hopefully it's got 700C rims, and not 27",...)

This might be one of the best looking bikes I've ever seen online. Great simplicity, and elegance of design!

I'm not sure I would regularly ride it, even if I did fit. That bike is a time capsule, super-cool, and should be preserved.

and, heres its road weenie cousin.... started life as an MTB, then got a crapload of 700c and road components thrown on because it royally sucked as a MTB.... not half bad as a roadie though... bit on the heavy side due to the chro-mo frame, but i am looking at getting a carbon fork for it....that fork is MASSIVE.....LOL and the one liece crank is geting converted to a standard 3 piece... i cant stand having to use 1/2" thread pedals...theres NO decent pedals out for that size....

Looks like at least a 6" travel fork, is that frame rated for that much fork?

If it fit, I'd ride it. I'm not into being a warehouse for someone who will get it after I'm gone.

I just bought this hardly used ca 1989 Panasonic MC4500 made using the PICS system. It was brought over from someone from the US and looks like it just sat in storage. Poor quality paint job but their largest frame that used Tange DB MTB tubing. I was sad to score the brake rims on its first outing!
PS the saddle has been raised since this photo! |

ditto.
i'll take care of my stuff, but any bike worth its salt was built to be ridden. and with all due respect to this one, as well-preserved as it might be, that Raleigh was never *that* nice a bike that it's worth hermetically sealing. ride it!
