LED Auxiliary Lights - Page 210

About 3-4 years back I built one of the kit lights from ledsupply and was so impressed with it I machined new housings and built a few more redesigned/finned housings using larger LED drivers that up the output by about a third. Amazing how much light can come out of that small of a unit! My whole light is two inches in diameter but the actual led is about 1/8 inch diameter with a .8 of on an inch diameter lens!

A couple months back a buddy and I did a side by side comparing my light to these Monster lights. Although they both put out about the same amount of light the Monster's have a lot more focused beam where mine are more of a flood type. Hating to be out done I immediately orderd a couple of the Monster's as well.

Two of these on the front of a scooter is WAY overkill! I only added one!

I was coming home the other night after finally taking the time to aim it correctly and was on a secondary highway. As I crested a hill that is about 3 miles distant from the next hill a car came over that distant hill and even at three miles he flashed his brights for me to dim mine! YEAH, they are THAT bright!

Use caution if using them in any non off road application though, as I am positive they would get you a ticket.

Hey Gdawg.... how did you mount the 60s to your ST? what brackets did you use to attach them to your bike?

i'm looking to do the same thing to my ST since the stock lights are not very useful.

looks like HD brackets to the fender mounting bolts.

I don't remember if i got the HD brackets or not, but i just used the brackets that came with the lights, and put them on the fender screws....simple as pie

I've also get a set of mounts coming so I can slap a set of 60's on my Ducati Monster.

I appreciate it guys. I've got it on a separate circuit so I can use it like a spotlight on the bike. Good times!

I did a test out in the street and the lighting is just fantastic!

Would it be an accurate assumption to expect a pair of 62's light output to match the single 64, as shown in the photos?

I'd also think a 62 housing with floods installed would be a good all around set up, when paired with a 62 (spot). The housings would match, and the light patterns would compliment each other.

THREE!

On a WR! MAN! I bet you have NO problem seeing anything at night....even if it is in the next county!

THAT is what I am doing with the second one I picked up....dirt duty on my WR!

I like them better the higher they are mounted too. Especially in the dirt as it seems to help keep some of the shadow effects better at bay, and allows me to see into holes bettter as well.

Just noticed that the new KTM 1190 Adventure seems to have the same/similar? LED's that you can get for the BMW.
I think those are fog lights with lens front glass somehow conditioning the light beam making it street legal (DOT?).
I could see myself buying a similar product from you.

Yes, although you would likely have a bit wider spot unless you spent some time aiming each light.

I've had John's lights for a few years now. Toasted one, but I tend to ride into rivers and hit lots of trees.

Had 2 model 30's and now have moved up to one 30 and one 44. They've been through hell and back, and kept me sane racing at night in upstate NY last year. Now they'll guide me as I plow through the sand roads of SC at Sandblast next weekend. So, a big two

s up from me. Just worked up a little light bar for that redneck look I'm going for.

Also picked up the Helmet light and it helps greatly in the turns......John do you have to charge the battery out of the box? Just had a friend pick one up and I cannot remember.?? Thx!

I finally installed the Monsters on my URAL rig and Jeep...
I'm speechless ! When they go full power it's crazy !

As soon as I get a chance I'll upload some pics of how and where i mounted them. Thought 'bout posting pics of the beam but I think I'll have a tough time capturing it...
I'd say they are kinda BRIGHT "Moon Light" as far as color goes and street signals light up very soon in the distance. Contrast is greatly improved also, so even where my low lights hit decently I notice a big improvement with the Monsters even at LOOOOW setting !

Best money spent for the rig and Jeep...
Ah... by the way: The ones on the Jeep are mounted for now in a less then ideal spot (on the cowl next to the A pillars) but these two small guys EASYLY outdo the 5 x 55 W Hella Halogen lights I've mounted on the roof !!! INCREDIBLE !!!

Those also look remarkably similar to the new BMW units for the 2013 F800GS (presumably same as R1200GS units)... any idea who manufactures them?
