I don't want to cross-post on a subject I already posted on in the "Toyota Truck" thread. Instead I'm going to post a link to a truck camper build up I did. Instead of purchasing a traditional TC, I bought a Durashell 165 fiberglass slide-in utility body. The unit is spacious, reasonably light ( 400lbs approx) and is relatively aerodynamic.
The interior dimensions are 67" from bed floor to ceiling, 75" from back doors to front bulkhead , 60" wide at the bedrail overhangs and 110" from the back doors to the front of the cab overhang. With thoughtful upgrades, the unit can be very liveable and not super heavy. I ran three 2x4's across and then added a sheet of 3/4" plywood ripped into two 24"x75" panels. They are stacked and used as a floor on the left, but can be set side by side if needed. I fastened a 75" cot on the right side with 3 ratcheting straps, giving me good access below and storage for taller items. The floor can be lifted up for additional floor storage access. I had two 6" diameter clear access hatches installed in the rear doors and one 8" hatch as a passthrough to the cab. It is a simple, stealthy, low cost approach to natural light and ventilation. Additional I installed a battery O2 alarm. I have a 2 gallon water cooler, a Honda EU2000 generatior, electric and propane heaters and several baskets & tubs to maintain order. My plan is to buy a current generation 4x4 Access cab Tacoma. My current paid I4 5spd Tacoma really slows down on the grades, but will do the job for now. I get a truck allowance and have no write off's so it makes sense to pick up one next year after I complete my child support in March 2013, Please view this thread to see the pix: http://www.cheaprvlivingforum.com/po...73334?trail=15

I guess I'll stick mine up,
I got it for $450. Ugly, but it wasnt totaly rotted out ( like most I found). 2 burner stove, 10kbtu furance, gas light, 12/120v lights, sink, the frige is dead. :/ In it's natural habitat. I've towed my boat behind it. This year I'm thinking of building a Hitch carryer for my suzi, so it can go along.
