Piaggio BV200?

Been looking for a scooter for the wife but have a hard time finding just what she wants. The Burgman and the other 400cc+ are just too large and heavy and the 50cc just doesn't have the top speed she wants. We noticed the Piaggio BV200 and it seemed like just what she wants, does over 70mph claimed, has a top and side box option and a windscreen yet its still small. Does anyone know much about Piaggio and reliability or about that scoot or maybe something else that would work well too? She doesn't want a stella or vespa, just doesn't care for the retro look likes the sporty types. Anyone know what mpg you get from these?

Piaggio is good stuff. Pricey, but the build quality is really high. I have a BV500 that hauls my fat ass around well. The big wheels give it lots of stability and the motor pulls really well. The 200 is basically a big-bore Aprilia Scarabeo 150.

The windshield you picture is great, and there is a taller one on the aftermarket. Do the bags come with it?

One bad thing - checking the oil is a bitch. Maintenance requires removing some plastic.

Bags are optional, the one we looked at had the windscreen and the top case, I don't think she'd need the side cases. We saw the aprilia 150 but I didn't know if it could comfortably do Hwy speeds. She like the looks of the Piaggio better but the Kymco people 250 looks like another option.

What do you have to do to check the oil just one piece or allot of plastic? How often do you have to do what maintenance? Can you put many miles on these 4stroke scoots for daily commuter use if taken care of?

Another interested in a scooter for the wife

Just returned from Italy, and the wife of my youth thought scooters were cool.

I'm leaning toward a 125 - Vespa, Yamaha and Piaggio are the places I've looked so far, and I'm leaning toward the Yamaha Vino at about $2500.

Any advice for the ScooterNoob would be appreciated.
