My First Trials Bike
High everyone, just getting into trials I'm 47yrs old and been riding dirtbikes my whole life always wanted to try trials so I found this 1997 gasgas JTX 270 on craigslist acouple hours from my house, the bike needed some TLC but not to bad, the plastic was beat and rear fender was broke so I just fixed the fender and painted it with automotive paint, should hold up until I hit the ground lol..., anyways here's acouple pics. hope you like

Nice bike, it should serve you well. Those bars look like Trials bars with the crossbar removed. If so they are dangerous, don't ride with them.

Nice toy
You scooped a good bike. Its an unstoppable tractor, will pull you up and over anything. I've had my 96 JTR for 3 years and couldn't be happier with it as my 1st trials bike.
Enjoy.

In case you didn't know...
Check regularly for milky oil. The water-pump seals are notoriously bad on these bikes. Some bikes are afflicted others never seem to have a problem. I've only owned one that didn't need the new seal kit. It's a simple fix should it be a problem. Just be advised I've never been on a '97 but my '96 is a BEAST! Great find! |

The point is those bars were designed to have the crossbar for strength. They will break without the crossbar, which will hurt you even more. New bikes have the "fat bars" which are designed to be strong without the aid of the crossbar.

Good looking first ride. Looks better than my first trials bike. After several years I caved in and got a new bike. No more blaming the bike for what I can't do.

Didn't see they weren't fat bars. Yeah they'll break pretty easy
