Coolidge Dam day trip
Howdy..I was able to make a day trip out to Coolidge Dam/San Carlos Reservoir yesterday...
lots of cactus blooming... ![]() San Carlos Reservoir and Coolidge Dam ![]() ![]() ![]() The view down the Gila River ![]() ![]() ![]() Eagle detail and reeeeaalllyyy long staircase.... ![]() and finally, Mt Turnbull on the way home...

I did that a few years back. The road out north of the lake wasn't bad, but the road south of the lake was a "paved" road worse than any dirt road I've ever been on.

It's been a couple of years since I rode by, and I don't know if there is any designated camping, but the south road is pretty remote, so there may be areas there where you can camp. The north road runs through population so unless there is a designated camping area, I don't remember much that you could camp on. My memory could be faulty though.
