My main ride - 2012 Trek Madone 5.9. The salesman had me at "electronic shifting"....

My light trail, bad weather, bad road, or bad neighborhood bike - 2008 Kona Jake The Snake. Cross bikes make the best all purpose bikes. This was also my main road bike til last year.

Totally unreal.. I picked his bike up and my heart literally stopped for a second..

It was like holding unobtanium. So foreign and beyond words, like how is this so light and yet feels so solid..

One of the coolest things I've ever seen or touched..every bit equivalent to a million dollar car... but more pure in it's simplicity as a Bike..

I'll get pictures of his actual bike and post back.. Weird our fondness to Two Wheels...something in the symmetry, balance and function...It's why we're riders.

Lightest bike I own right now is 15.6#* with the light wheels on it. Giant TCR Advanced SL with a mix of Red and Rival on it. I *could* make it lighter, but I've still got a roll round my middle.

Easier to save # off of me than it is off the bike.

When I built up my Litespeed nine or ten years ago it was 16.5 with my race wheels.

I tried really hard to get over 200 to race my local Clydesdale class and no matter what I ate I couldn't put on that extra 5 pounds

the most extreme example of that sensation i've personally experienced was with a Calfee tandem. imagine picking up a bike the size of a tandem that was built to deal with the forces applied to it be 2 people, yet still weighs less than many singles; kinda' mind-bending.

can't agree; it's *so* much easier to write a check,... hence all the fat old guys rolling around on wunderbikes.

My MTB weighs in at about 31-32 pounds

I don't care, I could stand to loose 40! That would be like having a zero gravity bike if I lost all that weight

My hardtail 29er weighs 29 pounds. It's the lighest MTB I've owned in a long time. I rode 40+ pound bikes for years! So to me, a 29 pound bike feels light! It would make a lot more sense for me to drop 40 pounds, then to try and make my bikes lighter...and it would be cheaper!

My 24" Mongoose BMX feels like a feather compared to my MTB! And my kids racing BMX weighs about 13 pounds, it's crazy light.

I saw a roadbike in the shop a few months back, all carbon, electronic shifting, etc. It was 13 pounds too, but also $13,000. No thanks.
