Me? I'm not quite 'break out the q-tip and clean it every ride' kind of guy, but cleaner = lasts longer and works better. I'll go thru mine every other week or so unless its been wet/muddy. The bike gets cleaned and re-lubed EVERY wet/muddy ride.

My first mtn bike (87 Rockhopper) was 27# before I put the Manitou 2 on it. Went up to 30# after that. ...but man oh man! was that inch of travel worth it!

My Kona Tanuki just after I got it last summer. My first full suspension bike and I really like it so far. I might splurge and get a dropper post this season.

Done. Throw this up in Inmates and the Bicycle Thread in Sports, too, and you might get more traffic.

I rode the MS150 in SoCal a few years ago and it was a wonderful experience.

As for # vs $$ I've weighed pretty much the same since 1988 except for the two times I broke my leg-atrophy sheds a lot of weight

Despite running*, I gained appx 40# when I jacked up my back. Didya know doing the clean and jerk on an RT is bad for your lower back? Neither did I till the DMV tester lady 'wasn't looking at me' and that's what I did.

I'm back down to within 5-10# of where I was in '05 (165ish) when I officially got my MC license despite dropping my bike during the test. I'd *like* to get back to where I was in college (155#) but I don't see that happening without adding MANY more miles/week.

Hey...unless somebody's paying you to run, or you're a medal contender...there is noooo reason to carb load any other way.

Screwing up your back sucks big time. That'll change you from a three-sport racing fiend, to a couch potato in no time.
