waiting for clear roads

well now that Paul got the loser running great I'm waiting for the snow to melt to get a chance to finally take it out for a spin.
Thanks Paul for all your work, hopefully we'll have many goods rides together.

This is what I found when I opened the float bowl:

Somebody loved RTV gaskets maker as much as they liked red wires. Overall the jets were pretty clean, but the idle circuits were dirty. I removed the factory plugs that cover the idle mixture screws and cleaned out the full idle circuit and put it all back together and it seems to run well. The radiator temp switch even started working for some unknown reason (the fan now clicks on automatically ).

It's time to take this bike for a real ride.
What a fucking mess.

Just to be able to document this for future generations, the Loser's engine is now an '86 Shadow 500 with the shift pawl from the ascot.

Glad you are the new keeper. Looks like some mechanical sensitivity was much needed.

Pablo, you are the man! I bet that bike is running better than ever before. Also, you're commentary is much appreciated!

Well currently The Loser is back in my shop. It turns out that all the overheating issues where due to a bad radiator cap (not holding pressure) so a new one is on order.

Goo has been riding the bike a LOT, which is great. I hope to get a video of it in action soon.

I'd really like to put some knobbies on it. Anyone have some half-eaten 18" (100/90-18 and 120/90/18) tubeless knobbies to donate?

Drat, I just went out and checked and I have a couple of 21" Kenda's that I will never use, but alas, no 18's.

Goo's got them in a shed in back of his house. Are you looking for a keepsake?
