munsterlander, thanks for the order. Your hook shipped out today.

Also, I just wanted to comment on something....if you consider the inmate price, my hook actually isn't more expensive, on the contrary :)

Let me know what you think of the hook once you've tried it out.

Have a good one

George

Laugh Helmet Hook

Received the hook and it took all of 2 minutes to install. Easy, easy, easy and I'm not talking about my high school girl friend! Went riding this weekend and it works like a champ. Why didn't I think of that. I'll take some pics and post them here. Thanks, now I don't have to worry about my helmet falling off the seat, messing up the interior on a mirror (never did that anyways) or setting it on the ground.

Pleased as punch!

Glad you like it :)

Feel free to send some pics or post them or whatever :)

If you decide to post a few pic, feel free to write some feedback saying how you use it, how you attached it and so on.
Again, thanks and hey, I wish I had thought of this 20 years ago. Maybe I could have made some bucks by now

For those in Australia. I now have a guy that sells them locally, so that you can save on shipping...

Just post here if you're interested.

helmet hook on Vstrom

Got the hook. Works great! I've got an expensive helmet now. In in the past I've dropped or knocked helmets off of various spots I've put them on the bike... the seat, the mirror, etc. Vstroms don't even have an actual helmet lock like most dirt bikes do, so this thing is handy. Great idea for the price. Some day I hope he comes up with a locking version.
Took a couple minutes to install. Vstrom riders need to remember not to remove the screw at the end of the bar weights, just loosen it (you probably have a 1/4" you can loosen it without any problem) then just pull it out by wiggling it a bit. If you remove the screw you will lose parts inside in your handlebar!

I've actually thought about it and the original drawing DID include a locking option but I never did pursue it. I may just have to reconsider the locking option though.

The biggest problem I see with this is that people are going to ask all kinds of stuff like "how secure is it", "can someone still steal it" and so on and of course, anything can be stolen and I just don't want people getting the Helmet Hook with some kind of locking option, thinking it'll be secure.

I never did set out to make a helmet LOCK.

When I bought my bike and I was at Cyclegear one day, I pointed out I didn't have anywhere to hang the helmet that was practical. The sales guy brought out a helmet lock and he started putting it on my engine guards but as soon as I started putting the helmet there, I realized I didn't like it for two reasons.

First, I do NOT like my helmet touching something hard because it forces me to be very careful when hanging it and second, I didn't like the idea of having to UNLOCK it just to hang the helmet there.

Mind you, this has nothing to do with your request, I'm just sharing my thoughts here :)

It has been recently brought to my attention that a few of our valued
customers wished that their helmet hook had a lockable feature, so I
consulted with my engineer (who has many, many impressive degrees from
many large and very famous universities) and after many long hours of
high tech brainstorming came up with a very cool idea -- two holes!
Yup, that's right, two holes to allow fitment of a small lock.

See photos for proof...

After this monumental achievement, I gave him the rest of the week off.
Here he is sipping some kind of coconut drink on the beach in Honolulu.

All helmet hooks will now feature TWO HOLES.

I would be surprised if we didn't get some kind of reward for this achievement.

George

Looks good - just got mine in the mail today. For those of us who already purchased a model - simple as taking a drill bit to what we have, no?

Absolutely! Get a small lock so you don't have to drill too big a hole. Other than that, no problem.
