As previously reported Jim Bruce traveled from Massachusetts with his friend Pat to join us for a little ride through Florida on the Tran-Florida GS Rally. Jim bought a brand new Triumph Tiger 800XC for this trip and it preceded to eat not one, but two rear wheel bearings. The second failure destroyed the the wheel hub and swing arm, making his bike unrideable. Two wheel bearing failures in less than 400 miles????

Update: Triumph promised him a new bike. Last week Triumph came through and replaced his broken bike with a brand new 2013 Tiger 800XC, plus some accessories to make up for the ruined vacation. I love a happy ending!!

Pat is a friend of mine, & I rode down Sat morn to meet the two of them at the riders meeting. Hated to hear what happened to Jim, but I'm glad to hear the great resolution.

Triumph!

Hey guys, here is the new Tiger sans crash bars. Backordered is what they told him.

As Bill pointed out about about feeling like he was being chased by Germans with Wolfgang behind him, I'm gonna have to start calling Jim Captain Hiltz with that green Tiger.

That is good news.

Despite my being a Friend of The Marque for BMW, i almost shudder to imagine what their response would have been in the same circumstances

Vee hass vays o dealings viv......yous guys

WOW ! that is one very good looking tiger.
I am wondering if the bearing folks missed lubercating a run of sealed bearings.
We always pop off the seals & press in extra grease. Snap back on the seal & we are ahead of the game.

for the good folks at Triumph.

Damn that is a good looking scoot. Wonder how a sidecar would handle on that tiger......? I know Carson would be happy.

I am of the same opinion. I too am a fan of the marque, BUT I do not think the spinning propeller would have been as easy to deal with. I could be wrong though.

Final drive? What final drive?

Not that they haven't done me right. Twice. But I'm sure that's only because there are no problems with the FD's. Evah.

One thing for sure... There is a noticeable lack of swarm on the engrish bikes though
