990Trailblazer Camp & Ride

990Trailblazer posted an invitation for a group of us to come out out his place and Camp & Ride this weekend. We went on a Dress Rehearsal Ride last weekend and then this is the big shindig! Simple... Show up Friday, setup your camp, bring your own supper, camp... Sit around the fire and BS, get up Saturday morning and ride. Camp Saturday night, BS, get up Sunday and ride. Go home.

So Knightwork and I made plans to meet up and ride down together and we also called DavidQ who is on injured reserve list and trucked down to get to hangout and camp with us while healing from surgery.

So KW (Knightwork) and myself meet up at KingsizeD's store and stock up on adult beverages and then stop by Bass Pro where I am in search of a RAM mount for my new Spot tracker that we picked up from a local hunting store that had the original model for under $40!!!

So then after KW and DQ couldn't decide what to do for supper, I stepped in a decided we would meet at Louis' BBQ Pit in Crystal Springs and then ride out to the Rigby Farm (also site of our dfr Fall Rally) for the Camp & Ride.

A big rain blew through THursday night and we were expecting temps down in the upper 30's, so KW setup his new Kelty as a wind break...

We ended up with Trailblazer990, DQ, KW, myself, and a few others camping on site, LarryL stopped by and some others stayed nearby (deercamps, etc) or just showed up in time to ride Saturday morning. It was pretty cold Saturday morning, so we rode in DQ's truck up to the truck stop in Utica to eat a hot breakfast and got back in time to gear up for the ride.

AS we were getting ready to leave, KW discovered the battery in his GSA was dead, so we sent a Tiger to go get jumper cables. Got him up and running and then that new Tiger had a locked from wheel... Apparently something pushed the hand guard back into the lever and locked the front wheel hard! So the rest of the crew was already on the trail, so KW, Marcus, Courtney and I had to fly to try to catch them and eventually did!!!

KW on a coffee break

I didn't know what to think about an Army man with a tail bag with a fringe on it... :ymca

Did I mention that around the campfire we had 3 David's, 3 Larry's, 2 Greg's, and Bob and I?

We had a good mix of bikes... 1 cylinder, 2 cylinder, 3 cylinder...

Oh, and I did find my RAM mount and get my SPOT installed on the Tiger:

And it worked!!

Now how did Knightwork get all the way over in the bushes on the outside of the gravel curve? ?

It ain't nothing for a big GSA rider!!!

Everyone needs an old Milk/Ice Cream truck on blocks in the front yard!

More fun marbly gravel...

I wonder if he has saddlebags with the fringe tassels to match his tail bag...

Lunch break at Vine Bros in Centerville, MS...

Soon I ride up on another road side conference... The Uly had a flat... out comes plugs and a compressor and soon we were on our way.

Later in the day, the sun would hit the dist just right and almost blind you

And the name of this road... "Hog Farm Road" Seems accurate:

That's a whole lotta brake lights!!

a rare break in the action...

We ended up running up Old Port Gibson Road towards our Supper Destination but I kept seeing a group stop... Ends up the Buell had lost on of its rear bearings. Trucks to the rescue! I was tired and the battery in my camera died, so i didn't get many more pics... It was a great day, great ride, and great group of riders, with some great weather!!!

Here is the entrance to our supper stop:

Then back to camp in the dark. I skipped out on the Sunday morning ride to get home and do some chores, plus I had had about enough!

Thanks BW for the pics and ride report. It was a good ride and company. Thanks to all who came, camped, rode, visited, or whatever else.

Thanks DQ for coming down and camping even tho you are not quite healed enough to ride. It was good visiting with you.

My friend Larry, who is also still recovering from a bad accident and multiple surgerys, made the effort to drive down from Tennessee, camp, and ride with us. Good to see you again buddy.

Yep, it was a good time. I think we had a total of 14 participants throughout the weekend. It was good to meet some new folks and visit with some good friends.
Thanks to the Rigby family for hosting us.
