I just saw a 335d no more than 10 minutes ago on Folsom at 7th. It was like they read my mind111!!!!

Spent a week living with a 520D in Germany last spring. Not at all interested in cars, but damn, that 520D just rocked. 1300 miles, 6 days, average speed 59 mph, and 40 mpg! And on unlimited autobahn, it was quite comfortable at 120 mph. If this 3 series diesel is almost as impressive, it will be damn good.

Saw an X-1 for the first time last weekend. Interesting.

Gotta say i love the bimmer diesel... i picked up an '11 X5D a few months ago and avg 21mpg in my mixed commute. Not bad for a fun to drive 5k lb vehicle with a 6k towing capacity

I'm hoping the 535D comes to our shores when i'm ready for a trade in!

I agree. I had a 04 3 series wagon that i loved, and I now have a 08 3 series wagon. My biggest complaint is the size of it.

I prefer smaller and simpler.

If they brought the 1 series diesel wagon over here I would scoop one up. But as it stands this will be my lasts one for a while.

Most recall when Diesel was cheaper than gasoline. Not usually by much, but by a few cents/gallon. Since about 2005 (???) at least here in NM it has been above, in recent years usually about 10% higher than a gallon of regular. I know their are many nuances, available torque etc, but it is getting harder and harder to justify paying the diesel premium. I have long been on the diesel wanter band wagon, but I am having my doubts now.

Never, never, ever underestimate the greed of the oil refineries. If diesel demand increases, correspondingly increasing prices, they WILL add refining capacity.

What we as consumers must hope for is that they screw up their projections and add too much capacity, driving down prices. They've screwed up in this area before.
