@ dave6253, your pics are amazing... Do you have them in high res (I mean 2560px +) for some great wallpapers?

Alcan Rider, As far as I know, you are correct. I may be wrong, but I remember #6 to be looking north.

If you go to Google Earth, around N67.69185 W149.73160 and turn to look south at about 170 true, then tilt so you are down near the highway, you will be looking at pretty much the scene you captured in your photo, with the Bettles River valley between the two prominent mountains.

With the sun staying above the horizon for 24 hours, and just circling around you, it can be quite disorienting.

Now as to the next batch... That'll take a little more time.

Looking west across the Dietrich River, around Mile 197 if I'm not mistaken.

Up around Mile 300 to Mile 303. Long telephoto shot to bring the far mountains in that close.

One of the many varieties of ecologically-friendly all-terrain vehicles used along the Arctic Coast, down around Mile 35 or 30 - toward the south end of the Haul Road.

Hmmm. Northbound or southbound?? Either way, it's between Miles 25 and 30.

Looking south, UP the Yukon River bridge.

Under the pipeline, looking through a pair of VSM's (Vertical Support Members) at ??? Somewhere just south of the Yukon - I think.

Just after getting off the Dalton Hwy, Mile 0, at the tee where the Elliott Hwy continues west to Manley Hot Springs.

Camped along the Sagavanirktok (Sag) River just south of Deadhorse.

Yep, still the same place it was in photo #2.

Beachfront property, Prudhoe Bay style. That water may be liquid right now, but it's still cold.

Standing on the levee/Wiseman Street looking downstream at the Middle Fork of the Koyukuk River.

Looking south from around Mile 390, with the Franklin Bluffs in the distance to the left.

Alcan Rider is awesome! I think you are right on all of them, except the 2nd to last photo was taken from the bridge. I was sure the first and last photo would trip you up, but you nailed them.

Don't wait until you have 2 months off, or you'll never go.
If I were to go again, I would plan a more direct route in order to maximize the time I had in Alaska.

Dave, Beautiful pics, all of them, thanks, brought back memories of last spring & your pics actually look like what I saw, unlike my pics, they lost something, I guess I ran out of talent on the pics.

Alcan Rider, very impressive several of those had very little to reference the location, I guess a lot of rides up there & a real connection with the area make your ability to recognize exactly where it was taken truly impressive.

I've stopped at that pull-out several times to take photos like that. You're just starting into the good riding southbound, when you get there.

A mile or so north of the Tiekel River bridge. The highway used to run at the base of the ridge in the distance, and snowslides would close it several times every winter. It was moved to the near side of the river 30-odd years ago, but the old highway was still accessible until just 4 or 5 years ago when flooding washed this end out. Quite a few riders were introduced to "fording" streams when following me down that old stretch of highway.

Tok Cut-off?

Yep, the Tok Cut-Off. And I'm embarrassed to admit that this one stumped me for a while. The mountains were familiar, and I had the location within ten miles or so but couldn't pinpoint it. So I took the photo home and studied it some more. Then it hit me! Just 35 miles from home, at about Mile 92 on the Tok Cut-Off. Just a mile after curving down to the Little Tok River and a spot known locally as "The Broken Bridge".

Another one from the Tok Cut-Off, this one taken last Sunday evening around Mile 35, across the still-frozen Chistochina River.
