Guys, it's really not as hard as we all seem to think. Go to a plastics specialist for the stock.
I made mine in a hour with nothing more than a drill a heat gun and a hacksaw. And it cost me under 10 bucks.
It's been on the bike for some time without a single problem or any real sign of wear.
Sorry for the dirty bike...... been out riding...........

Cagiva Elefant @ COTA MotoGP Austin

I splurged and bought into the Ducati Grandstand Package for Moto GP at COTA here in Austin... was the only Elefant out there.

She is running great.
These pics from Monday, out in the Hill Country, after meeting 9 great New Mexico riders for lunch. They had ridden in for the race. Cheers to Los Burros New Mexico - HeeHaw from Meaters!! Thanks Denny B for pics.

Cosmetically it is in fair-to good condition. Engine runs great. Valves recently adjusted - engine purrs and starts right up.
I bought it basically stock about 5 years ago with about ~14K miles (~22K KM) on it
Shortly after buying it the speedo cable snapped. I've purchased and installed two replacements, and they both snap immediately. I haven't spent any more time on it trying to figure out what's the story with it. I just use a GPS instead, and I think I've added another 7 K miles since I bought it.

I have done a bunch of things to it:
1) Odyssey Battery
2) DDL Aftermarket starter wire kit
3) DDL Aftermarket Headlight wiring kit with relay
4) DDL Aftermarket High performance Dyna coils
5) DDL Aftermarket VDO Voltmeter kit
6) ProTaper Handlebars / riser
7) Rebuilt the front forks, new seals & fluid
8) Corbin seat
9) Rebuilt carbs with new DDL aftermarket jet insert
10) New cylinder studs for horizontal cylinder from Nichols Engineering
11) Aftermarket StainTune High performance exhaust
12) Aftermarket wider foot pegs
13) Aftermarket clutch slave cylinder
14) K&N reusable air filter
15) H&K front frame guards

Most upgrades are described here:
http://www.elefantadventurebikes.com...l_upgrade.html

Things I will throw in:
Second rear wheel
Tank bag
Givi monokey rear pannier racks. Needs some work
Cortech soft bags for rear
Extra brake pads
Acerbis hand guards

Asking $2850

Pictures can be seen on Craigslist ad:

Damn - a few months too late - I just bought one from CA with those add-ons and paid a few hundred more.

VERY happy with mine right now!

Led two guys up to Denny's on Sunday whilst riding the Elefant. Did great. I need to get used to the really wide bars...I was turning in early all the time. Also - damn that 900 2V has some engine braking!

There is one for sale in Rochester, MN. If'n I was to go look at it what would be some things to look out for? It's a '94 and they are asking $5,500. I wonder if it is a fair price.

Details:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/da...767552204.html

Love the look and probably fits ergonomically but wondering about possible issues of reliability.

Thanks.

That is Dave's bike from the "List" - great work done on that bike. Check for engine leaks, but I doubt you find anything wrong with that one.

Only thing about the 944 kit you might worry about is engine heat with the high compression pistons installed.

If all the electrical upgrades have been done (which I think they have) then it is a reliable mount.

Ask if the OEM Kokusun CDI boxes have been replaced, can't remember if he did that.

I regretted selling it but then I regret selling every bike. A few months ago I got an email from the current owner with some pics. Here's what it looks like now.

Some old lady ran into him and he had to get the bike redone.

Jim.
What kind of discs are those? Looks different compared to originals.

From ALTRider - Conserve the Ride 2013

1st overlook - hardest part of the day and not even an "optional route" was the mudbog-fest getting to the overlook. The lower flat section was DEEP clay mud from the rains the night before. I didn't fall, my brother did, my wife did not.

Waiting at the sharp downhill turn on "Option 1" which wasn't really that hard of a section, but we had NEW offroaders, new to their bikes in the group. no worries- scenic group wasn't racing anything, not even the clock!

Lunch parking...

Panoramic 360 degree photo of lunch break - left side of photo wraps from the right - strange looking people moved during stiching

Stop along the 2nd half of the main route at an overlook to smack around the damn GPS - not following the route, trying to reroute me the shortest way to the next waypoint on the GPX route...damn thing.

Guiseppe and I after the ride on Saturday. He rode his stock tire shod Multistrada with the Scenic group - didn't drop it once during the whole ride. I had to get the generational photo

In front of the Cave on Sunday before heading home L-R - brothers F650GS (twin), my Elefant 900, Wife's XT225 (chicken killer)
