Riding a bike is inherently unsafe as compared to driving a cage but you choose to be "less safe" because the experience of riding outweighs the safety short comings. To those guys and others, wicking it up a bit and having fun is well worth the risk.

Hell, those guys riding at that level are probably more safe than a lot of people I see riding a sedate pace in the mountains. I mean that, alot of people have no idea of how to ride and shouldn't be on a bike at all but as long as they abide the speed limit, people think they are "safe" and then see those like in the video as unsafe.

Just my opinion and I'm not jumping on you for your opinion,,, just offering it up as a rebuttle.
Riding a goddamn motorcycle is no more a sport than driving a car. Racing motorcycles may be a sport, but none of what we do on the road is a sport.

By that mentality...

Fishing isn't a sport.
Hunting isn't a sport.
Hiking isn't a sport.

In fact... the way most of us play "sports" isn't a sport.
I'm definitely not risking life & limb when I go one-on-one with my brother on the basket ball court...

Just sayin...

Um. 'Sport' is from the French or Spanish word 'desport', "to seek diversion". Seems quite apropos here.

/spɔrt, spoʊrt/ Show Spelled [spawrt, spohrt] Show IPA noun; an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.

2. a particular form of this, especially in the out of doors.

3. diversion; recreation; pleasant pasttime.

4. jest fun; mirth; pleasantry: What he said in sport was taken seriously.

5. mockery; ridicule;derision; They made sport of him.
Please pay close attention to 3, 4 and 5.

In any event,,,, I beg to differ. We gots our own "Isle of Suches" round these parts and the participants ply their "sport" every weekend on and off da road there sport.

Correct. By modern definition, a sport has rules and a way to keep score, and there is a "winner". Activities listed above, and riding a motorcycle, and driving a car, are just that: outdoor activities. Racing, on the other hand, has rules, a score, and a winner - and hence is a sport.

Agreed. I get onto fishermen and hunters when they call those activities sports.
