Motobecane and Motoconfort are French
Now Motobecane had a contract with yamaha and the new name is MBK
Peugeot hade a contract with Honda. Both of them produce only mopeds or scooters (Peugeot had a 2 stroke copressor scooter !)

Koehler-Escoffier

Does anyone know of any Koehler-Escoffiers ? I'd love to talk or correspond with an owner.

WOW! indeed!

Thank you for the educational thread. I particularily like the Terrots, from Dijon, as I have an elegant Terrot touring bicycle from 1955.
The French in an attempt to recover from the war, caused in about 1954 to have a large tax on luxury cars and motorcycles, and I believe 175cc was then the upper limit for "affordable" machines...
The French always had extra style in their sheet metal, the tanks and mudguards were often very elegant.
And the concept of a luxury motorcycle was more successful there than anywhere else, I think.
They made very stylish, or rather, modish, side cars, may we have pictures of those, please?
For another unique French creation, (and further to my current interst in life) google: Anes Poitou.

I found this nice Motobecane site:

http://hooniverse.com/2011/08/16/twt...tos-de-france/

I had a L4C (incorrectly presented as a vertical twin... It was a very narrow Vtwin), not a great bike but good looking!
