Quite a step up from the KR-175

And I'll bet the VW 1 liter will be a lot more than $6800.00

The prototypes that they are currently taking on tour have the Geo powerplant. IAV is on board with Elio so I would look for a powerplant from them, something like what IAV made for the Smartcar. I want one for days when I do not take the bike to work. I have been on the list with $100 down for a while now. When they get the whole funding situation covered I will upgrade to the $1000 down.

If you really want to know more check out the forums at elio3wheel.com

I will be going to the MPLS tour on the week of May 20th.

Cool, let us know how it goes... I'm pretty set on getting one.

Depending on the final result anyway.

Wow just wow especially since LA is changing legislation to make it a car there for no helmet and also have car tabs. Plenty of other "car" motorcycles are in the market right now; but not at $6800 and 84mpg.

One such "car" motorcycle is the Stallion made by Thoroughbred Motorsports. The big difference between this and the Elio is this is open, this uses a Ford powerplant, and this costs upwards of $30,000

And next Thursday I am only working part of the day to go to the Elio tour in MPLS. I will post pictures but there are a ton on Elio's facebook page from the other tour stops already.

Price

I like the price, but I don't see how they can afford to sell it that cheaply. Rough guess, adding up new parts costs (engine, trans, wheels, body, gas tank...) I just think the final number will be around $12,000.

That said, It looks like a great option. I have a Chevy Cruze right now and as time goes on and it wears out, I'll look for a smaller replacement.

Right now, the Chevy Spark is on my list as a replacement, but I have years to go.

Also, I could care less about AC (northland) but good HEAT is important here.

Does it have a steering wheel or handlebars?
oneway it's a car-like trike, the other is a trike-like car...

the price is reasonable though...

Look at the pictures again.

All is easily revealed.

These are interesting. I think they could make it work if they could deliver for that price. I would be interested in one.

No way they can deliver at that price. Last I knew the company has three employees. A bare bones Ural costs $10500 plus.

They are looking for a government handout in 2013 like they tried in 2010.
http://www.theoaklandpress.com/artic...7932610030.txt

"Elio Motors has filed a $260 million grant application with the DOE, which has given the project a favorable review."

"Last fall, the DOE loaned more than $500 million to Tesla and another $528 million to Fisker under the same program. " and you know what happened with those loans.

6800? That would be a miracle if they put the car out at that price. And I would buy one ASAP and start looking for a SMART diesel engine to throw in it. It would get over 100MPG!
