Kirk,

I used similar seals on mine. I didn't cut the corners. Did you use any glue on the cuts?

So far no leaks!

Looks like a nice set of bags.

No glue was used. I've been all over Trim-Lok's site and can't see anywhere that they recommend to glue any miters. I have sent in a question to confirm, and I'm waiting on an answer back.

In an installation video, they make no mention of glueing or sealing any joints. They do make mention that no glue is needed on their gasket like I'm using on KP2s. They also say that you shouldn't bend at a radius that has puckers in it like you did.

With a reverse flange in the lower, I don't think it really matters anyway unless you plan on playing James Bond.

No pix, but my set survived 3 days of heavy rain and then a 350 mile return trip today - 300 of which was in heavy rain and they were dry inside.

Good info. I'll let it go for now. If it leaks I have extra.

Thanks,

Jim

Kirk, the panniers look great, i have read the whole thread, shit looks top notch.

as to the glue, assuming you are using a neoprene gasket, a little bit of wesuit cement works GREAT. the way you have the lowers bent, i dont think itll be an issue for leaks the way you have it done, unless they get fully submerged.

ill have to stick to my searhose cases for the time being, but if i need a set of alloy ones, youll get my biz.

Yep, just got word back yesterday from Trim-lok.

The gent told me that super glue can be used on seams, but it's not needed. That's what I was wanting to hear.

And I agree 100%. With the reverse flange lower allowing the lid to overhang, there shouldn't be any issues at all.

I'd be more than happy to build you a set when the time is right. Thanks!

I just got off shift, so it's time to kick it into high gear in the garage. Yes! ;)

Orders sheared, bent, and ready for some TIG action for Joel, Mike, Manny, and John.

I'll be TIGging until the sun starts going down, and that's just fine by me.
