Saturday/Sunday/Monday

Been busy exploring the Sydney area, so have not posted up.

Friday had the overview tour with Lee, then covered some of the same places on land.

The weekend was busy as I started off going with my friends Craig and Jenny to Royal National Park for a bit of a bush walk.

We started at Garie beach, and hiked north across the beach then along the headlands.

Just stunning!

It is approaching winter here, so the temps are not too hot. Light breeze made it perfect to take a hike! and the blue skies and sunshine were great!

Up on the ridge we were in the bush. Sandy paths and encroaching flora.

Then short views over the headlands.

and who is this tall guy :)

We stopped and ate lunch overlooking the trek, then carried on down to this little Billabong ( from WIKI Billabong (pron.: /ˈbɪləbɒŋ/, bil-ə-bong) is a Wiradjuri word that is used for an isolated pond that is left behind after a river changes course.[1] Billabongs are usually formed when the path of a creek or river changes, leaving the former branch with a dead end. Billabongs, reflecting the arid Australian climate in which these "dead rivers" are found, fill with water seasonally and are dry for a greater part of the year.[2]) with a waterfall. Craig, Jenny and I capturing the moment.

As we walked the 8-10 KM there was lots to see. Love the textures and colors!

and the sounds of the birds and the pounding surf!

Must seemed right to make my first jump while taking in the beauty of Eagle rock (see it in the background?)

It is getting dark at about 5PM ...... so we had to plan for getting back to the car before darkness.

Surfers were getting the last of the waves.

SUNDAY. Met up with a friend of a friend from the states who has lived in OZ for a long time. Met her up in North Sydney. We went to church at C3, which was great.

Then wandered around a local Organic market, had some coffee and crepes!

[IMG][/IMG]

Loved some of the packaging ! good sense of humor!

Lady Di waving to our friend Wendy in Oregon!

Di then took me sightseeing in her neighborhood, including a great Butchery with really fantastic Sausages!

Lots of options

Then some more great beaches!

and we could not resist a photo of Di on the bike with her Red Shoes.

Then off to meet up with Craig and Jenny in Manly to see the penguin come ashore, but it did not happen....The others had all gone out to sea, but one older penguin was still arriving. So we had a great dinner in Manly.

MONDAY.

Sorting out my plans for my ride, then into Sydney to walk the Botanical Gardens, and pick up some road maps.

As I walked through Sydney, lots of school kids in uniforms!

Sat on a bench and enjoyed the view. Looks like it was donated by someone. Liked the placard. wonder what the story is?

Nice views from the park.

Some birds in the park

and artwork to enjoy!

and finally..... Jumping for joy! Very cool being in Australia.

Tomorrow.... will start Riding!

I'm thinking, radioman must have been wearing the red hat while Di posed on the bike.

Beautiful pics Mark. Hey, I notice you have the Gobi panniers? Are they working out for you? How do you like em'? I am looking at a set for my ADV bike.

Carry on mate!

No we ate at a place called Taste of Africa

It is coming on winter here..... so temps are 70's in Sydney, and 50 at night. Perfect. Mountains will be colder this time of year... But I am looking forward to the ride!

The Gobi bags are very sturdy, and have held up very well. I have never bothered to use them for water, so you lose a bit of space with the double wall. Have them on two bikes!

Good luck!

On the road again!

Decided I could get stuck in Sydney for a long time, so I needed to hit the road while I had a bit of good weather to ride south!

Riding out of Sydney. Lots of warnings about Speed cameras

You see lots of Postie bikes out delivering mail.

Then I had a great ride through Royal National park

Got to Bald Hill lookout, met matttherat and several other riders. Beautiful place.

Then a paraglider took off.... Looked like fun!

Continued my ride down the coast road!

Rode out to Kiama lighthouse and Blowhole.

You could hear the "whoosh" and thump just before the water shoots skyward.

Then onto Gerringong.

Was told I needed to stop and eat at Werri Beach fish shop!

As I pulled up there was an 1150GS in front, so I knew it was a good place! I met Thiery and his friend (sugo SP?) they were on a 10 day ride in OZ. He is living in Taiwan, working. Was great to meet them. Thiery has been inolved with Horizon Unlimited in Europe.... so it was fun to chat about riding! As riders we always seem to have a connection!

I arrived at Lee's Shed which he generously offered as a place to stay on my way south.

Arrived before sunset. Now I have been here via Air and ground :)

A very peaceful place!

Mapping out the ride

Got all my maps out to look at some of the options to ride. Also mapping ADV folks that have offered places to stay.....

Rode a bit in town to check out the spots. The cem

It has been here since 1800's and it set up in sections by religion. Interesting.

Then I found the beginning of the coast walk from Werri Beach to Loves beach near Kiama. This is the sign at Loves beach, then I walked the return.

and the warnings .....

Just a very peaceful and beautiful Coastal hike.

See the guy on the rocks fishing?

Some History of the area.

Dream Poles.

and as I enjoyed the hike, it was a great time of reflection, and time to Smell the flowers.

As I walk the last bit of beach.... back to my motorbike. Just enjoying the beauty.

Back to the fish shop to try another type of fish today :)

Fresh fish to choose from.

Yummy

Back to lee's Shed before the predicted rains started to fall. Lucky is looking better. and the rest of the cows were interested in why I was watching them :)

And this was the weather map this morning. Heavy winds and rain. I am working on some computer stuff, reading and waiting for the rain to clear before riding further south. No need to ride in the rain

Thanks for continuing with the RR. I have some idea how much work it is and so appreciate it. I would love to ride down under but likely won't so I get to see it through your eyes.
