just added off road peg's myself havent used them much yet but i think i'am going to like them. a little off subject but i was looking for some advice on high alitude riding and came across your thred from a couple of years ago just wandering if you had any problems with a stock carb. i am from missouri myself and going to co soon not sure if i should rejet or not? any info would help thanks

yes way better handling on the dakar. better on road grip and stability at any speed and offroad stability especially at slow speeds. sand,mud and rocks are no problem now.

1) Clearwater Kristas in place of stock fogs

2) Alaska Leather sheepskin seat pad

3) GPS (mainly for tunes) connected to Sena via Bluetooth

I like to add a large rear rack to my DS bikes. My DS is a DR650 and the BBQ rack was the best farkle ever, still have the original turn signals! A good rack wide enough for big bags is essential for me.

On a sport touring bike its always the seat that's the most important to me. That and the luggage. New bikes usually get a rear rack or top case and a good seat first thing. Then comes the comfort mods after I ride it for a while.

But, the rack is a must have IMO, I dislike backpacks...

All these things are great. The teutonic torture sitting device the BMW installs, for me, makes the bike almost unpleasant to ride the Russel Day Long seat fixed that really quick. IronButt rides are a pleasure now.
is AA next?

I believe in the old holistic approach. I.E. stuff has to match. So no _single_ mod is independent of others.

But, since my 08 KLR was an oil burner, the 685 kit is at the top of the list.

Though realistically, doing the front and rear suspension (Progressive front, Eagle Mike linkage fit for a 250 lb rider rear) is a close second.
