Never used those heaters, but read some good stuff about them. Are they really good?
Also wanted to fix the clutch lever sensor for starting the bike not only in neutral position of gearbox, it wasn't working since the day 1 I bought the bike from previous owner. Returning the gearbox to the neutral position sometimes becomes annoying and since I will do all that stuff on handlebars I decided to change the handlebars, cause they are not narrow any more and suffered a lot for last years
I can get Easton EXP handlebars with some discount but I don't know which will fit 640A... any help with that?

Only issue over many miles of use has been the plastic rocker switch that came with the 1st set which crapped out - get the metal toggle switch.

Check the wiring to the clutch lever sensor too - this is more likely to be the issue than the sensor itself in my experience.

Cheers

Hi AdvRiders :)

Here is my fathers 98 Adv R.

And my son helping him to repair bike

Could You help a bit, to get this thing run properly:

as I alreday wrote on ktmtalk:

It's very problematic to start after winter, last year everything was OK:

a) fueal is fresh
b) new spark plug - NGK D8EA
c) changeg spark plug
d) carburetor is Dell'Orto PHM40SD, disassembled an cleaned few times - there everything must be OK
e) valves OK, and no air leak.

Is there common stator problems to LC4 as RFS have? I'm thinking that spark is too week!

and is possible to start bike only with kick and without choke, if turns choke on running bike it dies immediatelly. When it's running - runs and idles well at 1700 rpm.

Feels there is no fuel in float chamber. If sqiurts right in it or squirt in inlet tract bike starts good with kick.

Any sugestions?

A lot of starting issues like your having can be chalked up to a poor battery... If the battery is good then the next thing I would look at is your starter sprague clutch, is it slipping and not giving the engine the proper spin when the E-start button is pressed...

You mentioned that you cleaned the carb, did you make sure the pilot circuit under the pilot jet is clear? If there is a clog in the passageway itself the bike will not run correctly at low revs...

Starts without choke?

But runs well after warm? Sounds too rich. Check float height.

Another bump for your Easton bar question. I don't know the answer.

For the heated gtips, never used a heater system with foam grips, always used hard rubber type grips.

So I will ask, is anyone using foam grips with grip heaters?

Rear brake caliper

The inner face (alloy) on my rear brake caliper has worn due to the pad vibrating against it over time. (Possible due to worn brake pad retaining pin as well)
This causes the pads to wear on an angle and wear out prematurely.

Bike has done 60000klms.

Any one know of a reasonably priced aftermarket caliper?

Ignore the dirt, but tis pic shows whati mean.

Great info, because I had some concerns about this combination and was afraid that foam grips can work as insulator
thanks Phil!
