Always fly around a water tower in the counter-clock wise direction... that way the town's name is revealed correctly.

If flown clockwise, the last letter of the town is the first letter seen by the pilot...

If you're lucky, now, they'll have a town name on them...
Some have sponsor names, or Al loves Suzy spray painted on them...

I'm going to give the iFly 720 a try.
Feature rich, large screen, easy to read chart overlay, moving map.
Plus easy to update, on the fly.

That's a little harsh. A lot of people think Falcons are pretty too.

Its not that ugly (old name "the box the airplane came in") Which one is the plane you can ride your adv bikes into the roll up ramp, take off, and land somewhere on a unimproved field? The Shorts is virtually an RV.

I used to work on both of those. Don't really miss the shorts to much. I do miss working on Falcons. They were nice.

Is that the plane that was a fuel guzzling pig that
the army spent mega bucks on design then did not
use much??

I actually had that discussion with one of the line service guys as we were standing there. He should be an ADV'er himself, travels quite a bit on his Night Train (with aluminum hard bags on home-made mounts) and still owns the 1979 Sporty which was his first bike. Oh...and a Pietenpol he built at around the same time. Here that is...

I feel I must be one of the few to defend the noble wart that the Shorts 330 is: Fuel guzzling pig? It works out to about 72 mpg for each passenger seat (30 seats) while carrying those passengers at 201 miles per hour. Not so bad. And let's be proud here: it's not a US design.

"... fuel guzzling pig..."

The Short Brothers would be offended to the degree that the Irish can be offended.

I flew an SD3-30 back in the day. I enjoyed it. Had a lot of great "adventures" with that airplane.

Some pictures I took about 20 years ago.

Ford Tri-Motor. My first airplane (ride). This was, believe it or not, out of Crissy Field in San Francisco. Noisiest airplane I've been in.
