Thanks for the hyperpro feedback, but did you just post a semi-ride
report without pictures?

I'm at 1/2" chicken strips at the back so I guess it works better then mine!
After the 650R, the suspension on the FZ6 is a treat. I got almost 1" at
the front though.. I guess it's the tire profile.. I had a lot less on my
650R (with sporttouring tires).

Tire profile and geometry - I never get the front fully scrubbed on the Fazer. I try to leave a little in reserve on the street, especially with all the farms, quarries, and sand pits in the area. Just can't trust the road surface very often.

I'm trying to book a track day (not really a track - abandoned driver training facility) with some instruction to get my skills back where they should be. No better time than now, with fresh tires and suspension. And they no longer require removing centerstands, which is nice. I may run a topcase just to F with people.

Anyone see this slick GPS mount. I think I'm gonna make the same, only in 1\2" diameter. Maybe build a shelf .

Anyone here using the Yamaha comfort seat?

I've decided the stock seat has to go if I want to put any serious miles on this bike. After 100 miles or so it becomes pretty uncomfortable...

I'd like a Top Sellerie but they are $$$.

I am. Not sure if its much better than the stocker for me, yet. I still get a sore but after a hundred or so miles.

I've heard it's not worth the money, if you wanna go cheap the spencer mod would probably be your best bet. If you look around used seats will some times pop up as well. Or you can try the Shad Style seat, it's cheaper than the top sellerie but there aren't many reviews and I've never used it so I can't tell you how good or not good it is

I have tried Spencer's mod and a standard Corbin before I bought a heightened and lengthened Corbin and all is now good with the world (and my ass). Picked both Corbin seats up from the fz6-forum. You just need to be patient.

Selling My FZ6

I bought my FZ6 to hopefully do some solo touring, but that just never seems to happen. It's a shame to have it just sit in the garage most of the time, so I've decided to sell it. If anyone is interested, here's a link to my ad here in the flea market section; http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=901603 I've included a picture of the bike.....

Lynn

Hi all,
I'm new in this forum with my Yamaha XJ6 Diversion (it's like FZ6R in US). Got it for a month and done 700miles so far.. some daily commute plus few short tours.

hi guys

i am in serious buying mode and hope to have a bike in a couple weeks or less. this bike, the fz6, has come to my attention. so i have a few brief questions

reliability: is it very reliable? is it high maintenance? expensive to service, any known issues?

comfort: taller rider, here. 6'2 with a 32in inseam. i just want to be sure if i go look at a couple i won't hop on and be disappointed.

comparison: how much more desirable is this bike considered next to a Suzuki SV650? is it worth paying four times as much for insurance? SV650 is $10 a month, the FZ6 is $40 a month. what about the FZ6 makes it worth the extra $360 a year?

thanks guys. if i have questions about specific bikes, mileage, pricing and making offers i will be back!!

oh, as a standard commuter bike around SoCal, how well will this bike do on a scale of 1/10? urban traffic jams, lane splitting / filtering, and getting on the freeways?

thanks!!

is $3500 for this bike a good offer? could i go to $3250, or is $3500 "fair" to both parties? i don't want to low ball any offers, but give fair ones :)

other then owner abuse what could be the matter with these bikes with 10,000 miles on them? what might it need coming up?

I paid 3500 for an '06 with 15k miles in '10. I think an offer of 3500 is reasonable.

As to your reliability question, that bike has 54k miles on it now. First valve check was in spec at 27k. Next one due soon but I'll put it off a bit.

I've kept up on routine maintenance, all fluids (oil, coolant, brakes) and upgraded the fork springs and oil at 45k.

Other than that, gas and tires. Easiest ownership experience ever.
