Here are some pics of the hitch. There is a spacer on e right side which goes into the end of the axle, then the yoke is brought up to the axle and the long "pin" is pushed through. There is a washer on this left between the yoke and the axle, then a washer on the outside and a R clip to secure. I've got the spacer tethered to the yoke because I keep forgetting to remove it and losing the bloody thing!

Nice trailer. I keep kicking around building one. Seems like there would be slop in the axle mount, or is that not a problem?

A small amount, a millimetre or less. Not a problem as such, more slop could be. Unless you were to use bearings it would be difficult to eliminate all movement. The alternative perhaps is a conventional towbar with a purpose built fitting incorporating a universal joint for the up-down and sideways movement. Since I have a two wheeled trailer awaiting a fix up I may end up going down that path anyway. At present though, this means I can tow without making big changes to the bike.
