Now and again I post in this thread to say it's still a Moto Guzzi Griso.

I'm no closer to owning one than I was in 2006.

Good thing you're not after the GS then.

Yes, I know it's a Chang Jiang 750. And I know it's a bike that makes old Urals look like they were made with the care, fit, finish, and attention to detail of a Sultan's new Rolls Royce. OK, maybe they're not THAT bad, but they're not a Ural

I saw this one at a car show this past Saturday and the owner was up front about what it is. I've done quite a bit of reading and research since then. I don't have near enough money right now for one, but I'm thinking I might just like one with a tan military paint job, the motorcycle passenger seat and the rack that can take the place of the motorcycle passenger seat. It's going to take a while to figure out if I want one with the flat head or OHV and whether I want the new 4 speed with reverse or the old 4 speed without reverse that's supposed to be more reliable.

I do know that these bikes have a max speed approaching the speed of smell, but I figure it this way - I have my V-Star 650 that's reliable and will make a long trip if I want it to, even if that trip includes interstates. This bike would be more for local running around (the highest speed limit in town is 45, but most are 30 or below) and it would be great fun on the dirt roads around the San Rafael Swell Once I get a pickup truck with a flat bed trailer, I bet it would be fun down around Moab, too

Is it old, possibly unreliable, quirky, and antiquated? Yes. But that's also part of the charm. It's got CHARACTER and lots of it

Man - never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait to just go home and ride the bikes I have. Soon enough, I guess...

Then 10 minutes later I'll want something else, I'm sure.

Air cooled, high maintenance (maybe more by reputation than actual practice), non-adjustable suspension amd narrower rims. Still. Can't get it off my mind.

Yeah, the PPSE gives me the hives. Almost bad enough to overcome my apprehension of owning a Duc. Somehow the Griso doesn't worry me. What gives on that, huh?

Sometimes hard to admit, but...

I need to come out of the closet and admit lately I've been lusting over the Harley Road King. Bone stock.

I love adventure bikes, but don't go off road with mine (a klr), and when I look at what I like to do on a bike these days, which is pretty much just go places, the Road King makes sense.

Harley over the last 20 years has stepped up it's reliability, parts and dealerships can be found anywhere (important when you need something in east bum*&$^ somewhere), they're as comfy as a couch without being overly loaded (like the Wings or Ultraglides) and, most importantly, they are made here in the good ol' U.S. of A. ...

I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem?
