That is a good idea!

A refridgerted side car with a cafe bar attachment. That way we could be assured that the pack would not out run us by too many kilometres. Whats more; would we care if they did???

I will have to add owning a Motorcycle with side -car to my bucket list. It looks like fun and at least I would not have to worry about Mrs. XRman sticking her head out to see where we are going; with the consequent wobbles down the road. I guess you have to remember that the Mrs.XR is still out there when judging gaps though!
Yes it is. It's really Mrs prestonpaul's but she is having a hard time getting me off it so she can have a go
Bucket loads of fun, but a steep learning curve! As long as you remember right hand corners are fun and left hand corners want to kill you all is good Put another 140km on it today and I'm starting to get my head around it and the engine is starting to loosen up a little.

we might have covered this already, but has anyone got garmin mapsource on their 'puter to autoroute shonkeymaps..?

was tinkering yesterday workin out my 'post bbcc ride' the standard garmin maps will autoroute on its roads, but if i switch maps to shonkey and try add a waypoint on a track that doesnt exist in the garmin maps, it routes me 'as the crow flies' for that section...

(the gps unit will let me autoroute via roads etc on shokeymaps....)

anyone made this work.. or am i...routed..?

.....but, what are you thinking for post CC?? Are you going to scoot back down in SA, east side of the Flinders? Been chatting with Slow about doing that, a loop from CC to the west and circling back on Renmark for the squirt back to SW Vic

Now you are talking. It seems a waste of all that" northage" to go back home the same way.

Heated grips are the number one mod to be done. Then it's getting a second battery to run camp lighting and the like. It came with a knobbyish tyre on the spare wheel so all good there. Not much room for an Engle though, I reckon a soft esky with some ice would be the go.

...different to 'ewe' turns If you look at your map XR (and others) head west from CC towards the Strez then drift towards the Flinders......not sure of distances or time but loose plan at this stage..

On our very first proper ADV trip, Mtrain and I did Cameron's Corner, via the short cut, to Mont Colina bore on the Strez in a day, then Arkaroola the next day. Two of our best days on the trip.

Can recommend going into Grindles Hut to camp, lovely spot and nice riding.
