Please keep us posted on this, it looks like a really nice mounting system.

I do have plans for other bikes, but I will be focusing on the rear rack with box mounting kit, with side racks to follow.

I am considering offering the aluminum side racks with mounting pucks as a universal kit. Then handy guys can fit them to their own bike. Any interest in that?

Are you taking orders for your racks? I would like a set of side racks & a back rack for the KLR gen 2
As far as the universal rack, at the moment I have only a KLR. The reason I asked about a DRZ is that I am shopping for one. Once I find one I would be interested in the universal mount.

Thanks, Phil

I would love two of these. Don't need the tool box access as mine has been covered for the last 21yrs...... the puck system is really neat and would make moving the top box between bikes easy

By the end of next week I will make the decision to to move forward with production or not. The side racks I sold were to a friend so that is a special circumstance. Hope to post pictures of the side racks on a Gen 1 today, tomorrow at the latest. I will also post some more detailed photos of the Gen 2.

The lock came in the other day so I could build a prototype integrated lock. Lock, lock mount and all hardware is stainless. This option would have to cost between $30.00 - $35.00.

A small padlock works pretty good to lock the lever, the holes are free!

I have decided to offer the top racks for sale. They should be available in less than a month. They work for both Gen 1 and Gen 2. I'll keep updating this thread until they are ready to ship, then I'll set up a thread in the Vendor's area. Any suggestions on other bikes that would be a good candidate for a rack with the quick release puck system for a top box? If you want to be one of the first to get one PM me and I will put your name at the top of the list.

Did I see that you are in Wisc somewhere?

What part, in general terms?

I am near Minneapolis, might be fun to make a road trip and see one of these sometime. I have a gen 2.

P.M. coming your way.

I would say it is too clean and professional looking for a KLR.
Very nice work!

Any chance that a DIY/"Universal" version will be made available soon? I'm thinking no cutouts for tool kit access or pre-drilled mounting holes, just the rack and box hardware. And maybe the rack mounting spacers and hardware.

Oh, and shipping to Canada!

Thanks,
Dave

I am in New Richmond, probably less than an hour away. Check your PM.

Thank you very much. You don't give us KLR guys enough credit, we are not all hooked on milk crates and PVC.

Dave,

We think alike. I already have the CAD file for exactly what you are asking for. I will try to have some available in a month. What bike would you be putting it on? I am going to make custom plates for other bikes, I think the GS650 is next.
