Combat Touring Boot Resole

Hi Folks,

The time has come to Resole the boots. I called Aerostich and they recommended Sole Performance aka FactoryResole - calling them however I learned they do not use the amber Sidi sole that comes on the boot (and that Aerostich sells) but a black cleated sole that the very nice guy advised was better and would last longer.

Has anyone had a pair of these resolved with Sole Performance? If so, were you happy with the cleated sole that they use? Happy with the service and quality of repair? Any other places that folks have used that they would recommend? Is it worth adding steel toes, yes I sometimes drag my feet in traffic :)

Thinking of doing an article for the MOA ON on it so any photos would be appreciated (please PM for email), with credit given.

Thanks,

Ted

I'm also interested in this. After 125'000 miles my Combat Lites need new soles.

I bought the soles from Aerostitch . Had them put on my Lites locally . Went from the motocross style sole to the cleated for more comfortable walking . Getting ready to do my Adventure Rains . Will probably just go local .

My CTB Lites are nearing sole replacement time as well. Vibram makes replacement soles for all kinds of riding styles. I haven't decided yet what I'll do but, these are an option. http://www.vibram.com/index.php/us/S...uro/T-Rex-Sole

When did you purchase your soles? Some folks I know have been waiting 2 years for soles from 'stitch, to no avail.

About that long ago . Why not check with Sidi directly . The Aerostitch boot look similar to the trials boots that Sidi sells under their own label .

Well it's all resolved now, my good buddy purchased a different pair of Sidi soles, I was just curious whether anyone else had been able to get the "wedge" style soles in the same timeframe. Although 'stitch offer them in their catalog, they do not appear to be available.

The main thing is, there are at least some options for resoling the CBTs, so I may purchase a pair of these boots after all.

I got mine in about a week less than two months ago. Had them put on locally. Worked great. I too went to the gum sole.

Aerostich is sold out of the amber cleated sole - no idea when they will get more in, "maybe by August..."
