How 'bout this sumbitch not breaking down?

All is not roses.
Looks great in the Berkshire Medical Center Upper Parking Deck.
Rode about 100 miles to visit Cuzzin' Sam recovering from a devastating left leg motor cycle accident.
I get there and he's out like a light.... poor kid will never be the same...
So I return to the noble steed and she's dead as a doornail... battery drained...FAK!!!!
I replaced battery and rode home to safety only to discover one of the BIG terminals on B+ had disintegrated after only 43,000 miles.... POS!!!!!
Did I mention it's 96F at 8000% humidity???
There might be something to be said about a new wiring harness. I now have a pristine backup battery!!!

This is the trouble, parts just don't last anymore, I replaced my old black coil with a nice new Bosch blue coil this week, the old one was only 43 years old

Those DBs look great: a nice hoop skirt on a voluptuous woman.

Cooperstown or Bust!

So we loaded the Dan Browns, checked the oil and set out for
Cooperstown!
Baseball Shrine of Fame... beautiful ride about 175 miles. The bike is our hero. We overnight with friends and enjoy the fabulous countryside...
and head back the next day...
I notice the tranny is "clunking" whenever I apply or relax throttle. I'll have to check that when I get back...

We get out on Rt. 20 and are headed up the big long slope towards Albany and "frrraammmp!" and everything ceases to move forward but we are still freewheeling. The tranny/rearend are not locked up... The motor is fine. We coast to a safe stop roadside. At first glance there is no major damage..no leakage, but I can't shift and the tranny is no longer talking to us...
Morte!

We barely had our helmets off and the nice Trooper showed up. He parked behind us to protect the bike from being struck by other vehicles, it was a tight road. We had a long conversation about the bike, his family, our town vs. his town, while we waited for the tow truck to show up...

We lorried the Moto to safe haven for the night, and our true friends proceeded to return us 280 kms. to home where I could access my own motorcycle retrieval unit.

Today I peeled back the ujoint boot expecting to see shrapnel and found a solid unit.
I then removed the magnetic fill plug from the tranny and found it "mounded" with steel mush...
I put it back in and started tearing the bike back down as it will probably not run again this season.

C'est la Vie!

Anybody got a good used 5 speed tranny for sale???

Eldo five-speeds will be tough to find in much better condition than yours. 75% of them found on eBay are ticking time bombs. Best bet is to find a later unit and swap the Eldo rear cover onto it. Or send yours to Charley Cole at Zydeco Racing http://www.zydecoracing.com and let him fix what's wrong. He has a pretty massive stock of parts (no, he doesn't sell parts, only uses them to repair units) and can build it back to better than new.

I've already emailed Charlie, informing him that my lump of a tranny is headed his way.
I should have done it last winter while he had the rear drive, but NOOOOoooooo!......
I was in big hurry to go for a ride!!
I'm sure it would have been a lot less involved ($$$) before I crunched it....

There are several other issues that should be dealt with while she's "resting"... so maybe next spring I'll have a better example to show off...

Wow, I really hated to read that.

Hope it's not too bad once he gets it apart...

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

I really wish you guys would quit killing your Guzzis! I'm going out on mine for a bit today, but I have no intention of joining the dead Guzzi club. I'm going to go sacrifice a goat to appease the gods.

Show us your bike!!!

Your oil pressure light problem could easily be loose connections in the dash...Check for floppy wires/ bulbs /grounds... while you are at it...
