Great pics! I'd love the .gpx of that one. None of that scenery looks familiar and I'm due for some riding this fall.

This looks like the ride out of the Capitol Reef Visitors Center up to Lower Bowns area. Great riding for sure!

ok guys don't hate me as I don't have any tracks or gpx files of the route. my usually trusty lowrance xog must have restarted 100 times on the trip . think its time to retire that little guy unfortunately.

ok so I can try to give you the general route we took.

we road pavment down from Layton and caught I-70, once on 70 we caught the Temple mount road (dirt) turn off. we took temple mnt into goblin valley st park, while in goblin valley wee took the road out to Wild horse road, which is really a sand wash, we take the main section of wild horse all the way to hwy 24 and turn east to spend the night in hanksville.

day 2 found us riding a short bit of pavment into fruita which is maybe 15 miles west of hanksville on 24 and its a geourgous twisty ride. once in fruita turn into the capitol reef national park. ride that out to the end and pickup sulpher creek trail / spring gulch out towards the lower bowns reservoir. the rest of the time we picked trails that just looked interesting so I wish I could tell you which ones specifically but it was truly whichever way the wind blew.

we eventually started making tracks back later the 2nd night from this area to spend the 2nd night in torrey Utah. torreys a cool little town with plenty of great places to eat, café Diablo at the west end of town was awesome but.......its expensive.

after a chillaxing the night at the best western which is on the south end of town (hot tub and pool) we picked up the great western trail 1 mile outside of torrey. the GWT is great but be prepared for rocks, rocks and more rocks. you can pick up a free map of the trail from the visitors center in torrey. the map shows caution areas of the trail, usally theres work arounds on these sections but , we were men so we rode them and its great just be ready for some clutch work.

we rode the gwt for 30 miles, but then had to peel off just before cathedral valley and pickup the highway to makes tracks towards Layton to be home before dark.

I hope this helps you guys out, I know its not as good as gpx tracks but there's a ton of stuff to explore down there.

ride safe!

Kevin's route

I mapped Kevin's route with the GWT section. Looks like fun.

Here

I was riding up at MP last night and ran into a guy, Dustin on a new KTM 500. He may show up here on ADV though he said he never lurked.

A buddy and I returned yesterday from this trip. Did some fishing along the way and he checked a road off his bucket list (Hwy 49 between Coulterville/Mariposa). Had great weather, well until yesterday.

The title is lowercase because i'm not going to take the time to describe the twisty bliss to warrant a full RR. If you retrace the route i posted previously see if you notice peg scrapes through the Sequoia's! Here a shot looking down on Big Sur near one of my camps.
