I have found, in my later years, that most things worth doing are not easy.
I can be a stubborn cuss at those times.

Thank you, and I would like also very much like to Thank you for your service.

Hey goose/fellas,

Awesome pic! It was a pleasure meeting/riding with you guys. Other than the whirring of 606s pummeling my booze logged brain, the ride home went smoothly. Sorry for the radio silence, I got home and packed up for the 4th. I should be able to take a look at the GoPro footage and get some of those shenanigans posted in here soon.

Getting the bike prepped to be shipped west so I won't be riding around here until sometime in September, but I'd love to bump in to you all again this fall.

...and another video

...Dolly Sods on Saturday of BYOB 2013.

Not highlighted in the video - sometime during my traverse of Dolly Sods my pannier popped open and I lost all my damn tools. Pretty sure they tumbled down the hill - and I never found them. Hope somebody does and makes good use of them.

Avoid this area for a future BYOB?

“It’s sad that on a day that is celebrated for freedom and liberty, such a
grotesque violation of both has occurred,” said Matthew Novak, Vice Chair
of the Libertarian Party of Tennessee. “The Rutherford County Sheriff’s
deputy trashing a lawabiding citizen’s constitutional rights on July 4th
makes it clear that the very meaning of Independence Day has become lost
on the law enforcement community in Rutherford County,” said Jim Tomasik,
Chairman of The Libertarian Party of Tennessee.

At the end of the video, Chris Kalbaugh summarizes his experience:
I was yelled at, bossed around, my car ransacked without my consent, and had my rights taken away from me. All while not being detained. I broke no laws. Officer Ross told me that my Constitutional rights did not matter at checkpoints. He said it is OK to take away Constitutional rights and civil liberties for reasons of safety. He didn’t even ask me if I had been drinking. This was a DUI checkpoint. Happy 4th of July, America.

Me and my 15 year old daughter Lisa were taking shelter from rain at Senega Rocks when we met George (and few others) and found out that ADV rally was there...
Oh well, maybe I should start reading other threads than "best pictures" and "buy gear"??

We pushed same evening into Monongahela, which must have been a bit calmer than the rally;-) A week later, we had racked up 2542 miles with the old Guzzi Quota.

I'll try to pay more attention to rally threads from now on....

She may be 15, but knows the ADV rules;-)

Had A great time at the BYOB

It was great meeting everyone. I came to ride and network with other riders. I had no idea that I would meet such a diverse mix of interesting characters. I would like to thank Phil for such a great ride. Phil, you are a genius with a map. Fred, you are the best, and we will be getting together soon. Todd, I enjoyed riding with you Saturday, and hope to get to ride some more with you. Bloochdog, you were a hoot and thanks for the the tip in Davis about Route 72. George, I enjoyed our deep conversations, and hope to have more. You set the bar high.
