Here's the Flying Dutchman parked below this really big tower that I didn't catch the name of.

And then I rode around and took some video of this really big Arch too. I think it might be famous

When I rolled in to Paris, a lot of the streets were closed.
I find out that the streets were closed because it was the final day of this famous bicycle race around France. I forget the name of the race but some of the French people told me that some American guy won the race 7 times but was later DQ'ed because he was a dope.

It got dark and I went and had a crappy expensive dinner with some good (expensive) beer at a café in downtown Paris. At this point I still had no where to sleep.

As I mentioned before, I just slept on the sidewalk near Notre Dame with some other bums. The difference was they weren't sleeping near their BMW.

The next morning, I went to the Louvre to see the Monalisa and lots of other works of art.
There must have been a half million people there.
But it was very impressive the amount of stuff to see there.

I am such a jerk

Most of you don't know me, but I can be such a jerk sometimes.
One thing you can probably tell about me is that I don't like crowds.
And the Louvre was crowded.
People were pushing and shoving to get a closer look at the Monalisa.
I stood at the back of the crowd but I wanted to get closer too.
At first, I just patiently waited for the people in the front to move out of the way and I could get closer. But what was happening was other people from behind me were trying to push their way closer and around me.
So after that, it was no more Mr Nice Guy.
I just lowered my shoulder and started pushing my way to the front. And I was yelling......"stopping pushing me", like I was being pushed toward the front from behind. Then I was yelling....."stop pushing me all the way to the front with a smile on my face". In about 5 seconds I was at the front.
LOL
And I did the same bad stuff all thru the museum. People would be rude and walk right in front of me as we were walking and when they did, I would step on their heel or lower my shoulder and body check them. And they didn't say a word because they knew it was their own damn fault for being rude.

Again, I am going to offend some people here, but the Asians are the worst offenders. But is a cultural thing. They live in densely populated areas and you need to be rude and lose your personal sense of space otherwise you will always find yourself at the back of the line. So I get it and I just gave them a taste of their own medicine. And it was kind of fun.......told you I was a jerk

Me and Mona

Most people were probably studying the painting.......looking at her smirk or the symmetry. Or what ever people do when they look at painting.
I was analyzing everyone around me and their behavior.
Here is this little painting that was getting all of this attention.......and WHY?
Ok, it is different because she has this smirk where others at the time had a straight face.
But in today's age.......who cares????
And besides, we have photos now that can capture the moment.
There are literally thousands of paintings there and this tiny painting is what most people come to see (including me)
So why
And the answer is........because it is famous.

So I asked the question......Why?
How did it become so famous?
And that to me is interesting.
Look at lots of other famous things.....Like people.
How did they get famous?
I guess the answer is that we create the fame even though it might not necessarily be better
And that's what set famous things apart.
So put this little painting in the museum and put it on just an ordinary wall, take away its fame and I bet no one would even notice her
And in today's age, if you took her fame away, I bet she would not regain it. One could say she just got lucky and got a good break in life.
Tom Cruise is another good example here.
How did that short little cocky guy ever get so famous anyway

Here is another famous painting.
I am guessing it got its fame by showing something that you just didn't dare to show at that time.

It is famous because it is different.
And I like that.
Monalisa was different because of her smirk.

And I am different because I actually took off on my motorcycle to travel RTW instead of just talking about it. And I talk about things that many people think but will not necessarily say.

I think it is good to be different. We will just have to wait and see if I get famous too one day. Probably not....I am too big a jerk at times....LOL
