Highway 78 East from Julian Sunday 7/21. Two lane mountain road, thunderstorms, lightning, rock slides, flash flooding, without question the worst weather I have ever been in on a scoot. When I got home I literally had to pour the water out of my boots. Raingear was a waste of time. I was on my 82 GS850G and she got me home without a whimper. Love that bike...

Cheers

The cloud is the top of an anvil thunder cloud.

This is what it looked like in the other direction.

This is quite an impressive picture. Most lightning shot are done by night to allow long exposure.

Thanks so much! I have quite a few night shots of lightening, and your right, this was a lucky shot! I do not have the lightening strike sensors that automatically trigger an exposure, so it was all chance hoping for a lightening strike during a 3.2 second exposures @f20! What I remember most though was that BOOM, even though I expected it, it was still enough to get the heart racing!

Great shot.
It looks like the rainbow is running along the ground instead of in the air. Is that just due to the angle?
