I am not in to that world of tanks, I dont play computer games, but I wonder if it evolves long enough if they will start to get new tanks, Chieftan, M60, Leopard 1, T72 on to Challenger, Abrams, T80, Leopard 2, What about Flakpanzer Gepard?

As it is WoT is very UN-realistic...it is a game not a sim. With history as our guide there would be no point in using eastern tanks. Fire control, optics, survivalability is just so much better on Challenger/Abrams over the soviet tanks it is not funny. It really showed their thoughts on tank design....quantity has a quality of its own, and there is always 4 more to replace the one you lost.

I almost quit the game as it drove me insane...but now I just drive around and shoot stuff....it is a good way to end the day after dealing with idiots all day long.

youve got to look at them in their timeslot, the later model shown in the pic was only really used by recce units and a wheeled armoured car does a better cheaper job.
but in '41/'42 when the early models were supplied to us by the states, and used in the western desert, they were comparable to anything else, italian bean tins mostly. the main gun was about as good as it got, dont forget nobody had figured a large exploding shell made a bigger mess of a tank than a weedy 2lb solid slug till rommel came along with his 88's. we called them "honey"s because they were comfortable, reliable, easy to work on and easy to live with.

Evolution. There was this one then some one came along with better and bigger. I guess the gun logic was to get the first shot in. a 2lb at a longer range, get them immobilised.

They where pretty good little tanks....and gave the brits something their 2lb guns did not give them.....HE. Also at the time it was on par with the 2lb and the short 37 and even the short 50 the germans had...it was not till the long 50 came along that the shells really started moving and it was found out that long barrel guns made holes in tanks better than the short low vel. guns.....a fact that is lost on the game WoT.

Really a better tank than the PzII and on par with brit armor at the time....Matilda had better armor but much slower.

That turret is way too big. It's going to fall off the minute that tank gets moving.

yep, and nothing brings on development like a war. within a year they went from this, through the M3 lee/grant to the sherman

the gun thing was a throwback to between the wars when it was thought you would have 'infantry' tanks and 'battle' tanks, slow heavily armoured mainly machinegun armed mobile pillboxes would stay with the footsloggers, and christie suspensioned lightly armoured sportscars would fly around firing 2lb/37mm AP solid shot at eachother. one immune from, but useless against, enemy tanks, and one vulnerable to, and useless against, emplaced AT guns. (needs a lucky direct hit from a solid round to hurt a gun, but a near miss with an HE shell wipes out the whole crew)
