Took the sportcity up over 9000' today

After the riding on the super bumpy road, I had some sputtering and stalling during Idle and also stalling few times in the parking lot on the stops home. My buddy suggested checking the spark plug so I did:





I'm no expert, but I think it needs to be replaced. I cleaned it a bit and stuck it back in. It seemed to do the trick, but I'll get a new one.

Love this bike.

Probably would not hurt.

Even though many Aprilia's (if not Piaggio products in general) come from the factory and spec a champion plug I would suggest that you replace it with an NGK equivalent plug. It has been reported that you will get smoother idle and it will be a little less cold blooded in the SportCity 250's. Also NGK plugs will usually outlast a champion plug by a significant margin. Champions are not necessarily bad but they are not real good for single cylinder power sport products.

Plug looks pretty good to me without seeing down further into the porcelain.

If bumpy riding caused problems you may want to drain the float bowl as you could have dirt floating in there. Possibly an issue with dirt causing the float to stick open. Also good to check oil level just in case.

Plug looks fine to me. You might want to clean and regap it. It's not fouled, shows no sign of rich running, and from what I can see of the insulator, it looks about the right color.

My Kymco dealer told me to use NGK, not champion plugs. I don't remember what I put in my SC but most likely it's an NGK as well.

Yeah, plug looked fine to me also. Gap seemed a bit wide, but hard to tell from a photograph.

Also, NGK is the way to go.
