Then it's just great plains, not The Great Plains. Still some good pictures anyway.

Your immediate option is to ignore the posts that offend your purist mentality and another and preferable option is to STFU.

Or we could post pictures of cats. Or, we could post pictures in the appropriate thread as the OP intended when they open a thread. New Mexico is a beautiful state with scenic, interesting, and exciting places to ride. So is the Great Plains.

And this is a photo I took in Nebraska.

You should just ignore me then.

I was just trying to help the thread by pointing out where the OP intended the pictures to come from, since he is a photog that absolutely loves this area, and wanted to have a thread dedicated to it.

I apologize for upsetting you, or offending you in any way. It wasn't directed at you, and your picture, but as a little help for anyone posting in the thread. It seems every time I see there are new posts, they are not pictures of the beautiful prairie, and just somewhere relatively flat for a few miles. Those that know the prairie, know it's beauty, and that it's not just about being flat (because it's usually not).

Have a wonderful day all!!

I love the parts of the Plains I've been through. Very different from PA.

Dark green - light.
Tall grass - short grass.

Sent from my fat thumbs on a small touch screen.

Also known as the High Plains and Low plains, water or rain is what makes the difference.

Great pics every one.

Wow ! I live in western Montana, Missoula to be exact, and I have NEVER thought that this was part of the Great Plains ! All I can see from my house is mountains, in fact, the main "backbone" of the Rockies is to the east of here.

I don't consider Iowa the great plains either, I guess because the grass is gone and everything here is corn and beans.

You are all correct. I should've looked for a better map. That one came from a wikipedia link....

Here is a better one.
