I totally agree, there is always a reason for the Wans to do a ride report. Yes Colorado has been done but it hasn't been done with wacky links and "LittleWan-isms".

Aw, I pretty much did Colorado in the Summer of Stupid, but it's nice that you want more.
We did ride some new-to-us stuff on this trip.

I don't know if there will be many fun linkies, I've got my hands full with pics and video from 6 people...
But, we'll see what happens...

OK, you guys -
I'm just waiting for 400 photos from Bartek and then I'm ready to start.

P.S. Hi redog! haha, yeah - Radek just spoiled my RR ending, dammit!

Never before did I believe cross-threading to be a good thing -- MC, glad to see you had a Wan interaction.
Two years back, I saw a guy at a BMW dealership, saw that he had a ton of stickers on his panniers, made a mental note that I should talk with him, and helped him find a local place to camp. Only when I got home and on-line did I realize that it was Len, the seafarer rider whose adventures I'd been following for the past few months from Nova Scotia, to Deadhorse, to the southern most point of SA. Not easy to put faces to screen captures when you aren't expecting to connect the dots. . ..

Hi NoVa Rider,

Oh I enjoy it when ride reports intersect (when reading them AND in person)!
It was great running into Mav and Notar.

We met some other ADVers on the trip, I hope they have RRs, too...

OK, back to work.
The new RR is up! - Oso Loco Taco Tour

But it's just getting started...
hope to see you guys over there!

BigWan and I survived the Summer of Stupid, and now we wanted more.

53 days on the road
8400+ miles
8 states, plus Canada
4.5 sets of knobbies
3 safety cones abandoned along the trail

along with a couple of flats, some get-offs, and maybe a crash or 2...

I suck at maps, so until I get one together, hereís a laundry list of some of the stuff we did.
It should help you decide if you want to waste time reading this thing or not...

Nevada to Torrey, UT mostly offroad
Capitol Reef/Cathedral Valley
Black Dragon Wash/Eagle Canyon/Cat Canyon
Skyline Drive (utah)
The entire Utah Backcountry Discovery Route (including Lockhart Basin/Hurrah Pass and a stab at the Porcupine Rim trail)
Yellowstone National Park
The KLIM Adventure Summit (including Idaho single track, Jimmy Lewis, the slow challenge, and a whole lot of ADV inmates)
Idaho (including the Magruder Corridor and the Lolo Motorway)
British Columbia backroads (including some KVR/Trans Canada Trail and 2 days of Mad Radekís Canadian Lunacy Tour)
The Washington Backcountry Discovery Route
most of The Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (including an awesome snow-less ride up Crane Mountain)
finishing up with a small taste of the Pacific Crest Quest (Gold Lake and Sierra Buttes)

hereís a little sample of what to expect...

I took over 6000 photos, plus we have hours of video to pull from.
Whew.
This is going to be a long one...

After almost 8 weeks on the trail, itís a little tough to re-assimilate.
Living in the forest has turned us into savages.
Itís hard enough to get used to all the people and noise, but having to use a hairbrush (no more, ďmy helmet will fix thatĒ),
wear clean clothing, and pay attention to grooming really sucks.

I'll do my best to sit in front of this stupid box and write out the report...
But what I really want to do is get back outside.

Pfff...unless I move country and can actually do one of these rides I don't think I can handle another report!! Pure torture...

Hi Corsica101!

Aw, just read the Canada parts of this one, so you can see where Lica wants to test out your 1190R!

Start here (scroll down to the bottom of the page) - Page 31 <-----

We had a blast in BC!
Radek took us to this really cool place:

I love that video!
It makes me want to go back.

It seemed like a great place to leave the safety cone.

So, get to the lookout and find the picnic table.
Sit where Matt is and look over there ------>

Itís pretty hard to miss those dead trees/stumps.

The one you want is pretty tall. Six or 7 feet high.
Cone bundle is up there on top (in a ziplock bag, with a rock for a weight).

I havenít heard anything about this cone, so I think itís still out there.
Probably too late now.
I assume itís lost to the forest now.
Most likely shredded up in a squirrelís nest or something.

Update 6/18/14: the Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route cone has been found!

BOOM!

After nearly 2 years, I had given up hope
but, I'm thrilled to report that the cone is now in the hands of an inmate...
(and not in the mouth of a squirrel)

The lucky finder sent me an email from the road - he said he took pics,
but we'll have to wait until he gets back from his travels...
Let's hope Coney keeps him safe in the meantime.
(fingers crossed)

Yes! I've been going through Wan withdrawal-it seems like it's been soooo long. But now,,,,,,,,there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Couple of pieces missing in that picture. I don't see one piston & the bottom end. Was the little man with the hammer about to get out???

Time to put that baby back together. Summer is here & it's time to ride!!
