That's BS - big time
Happened to me. Clamped rear sensor wire on left crashbar and caused the earth short.
It's possible they clamped the wire, noticed the error and removed the crashbar to rectify and never reset the error code
Your bike has a 2 year warranty - get the sensor replaced !!

Did shorting the wire cause an ignition fuse to blow or just a code?

Pinched cable

I just did what cpmodem pointed out: clamped the cable while reassembling the crash bars. TuneECU reported it and here are some pics that might help others

I had an issue with a cylinder temp probe that turned out to be an intermittent short due to a wire rubbing on a machined bit of the engine case. It took a LOT of time and light to find it. SLOWLY go over your wire with plenty of light bending it a bit.
