Hey Guys,
I got my bike from Bolton motorcycles - Kyneton VIC. they had heaps of stuff already in stock 'apparently' they are the biggest ktm dealer in australia.

They offered the works with mine.. so worth a shot if theres something specific you need..

How is the oil change on this beast? Same as the 990- minus the tank removal, I hope? How is it in general with regard to maintenance? I loved RIDING my 990, but didn't enjoy working on it very much. Considering the 1190 vs the 2014 1200 GSA... wondering how you folks are finding the normal maintenance routines-

A bit off topic but just curious.

The first service is on 1000km , while the second (oil change) on 15.000km.

Really, does anyone trust this number? I mean would you keep the oil for that long in the engine ?

The official dealer here says that the second service is done on 7.500km for oil change.

What do you think ?

I think oil should be changed by 7500 km wouldn't hurt to put new oil I wonder if you need to change the filter as well?

Oil change is a pisscake compared to the 950/990, 5 bolts including the oiltap and oilfilter bolts.

I think KTM said 15000, so it will be 15000 ;)
In fact, it's a little more "vicious" because it's 15000 OR after one year.
If like me you don't do 15000 in a year... ;)

At 15,000 you´ll have added so much oil that probably you already changed it
So, go from 1K to 30K directly

Found something:

Quote:
Best Client:

We trust that you are enjoying your new KTM 1190 Adventure and that it has so far provided you with hours of fun

and Adventure.

To keep you enjoying your bike and to ensure that it keeps performing to the set promise we would like ask you to

please book your bike in with us for a Technical inspection. It has been brought to our attention that we need to ask

our clients to please bring their bikes into the Dealership on 7’500km for a Technical inspection of the air filter instead

of the 15’000km service interval.

We would like to go one step further and please ask you to bring your Bike in for the Technical Inspection upon

which we will fit your bike with a brand new High Performance DNA Air filter at no charge. Not only will this new

filter perform much better in very dusty environments but will also increase the bikes performance. This Air filter is

serviceable and could be cleaned and oiled by the client him/herself if the need arise.

Please note that this is a Raceworx initiative and all costs will be for our account. We are a proactive business that

always keep our clients best interests at hand.
So there is a 7500 service, but it's the airfilter recall.

Is that a letter from KTM, or the importer, or the dealer, or...?

KTM 1190 ADVENTURE R RIDERS ... BREATHE DEEPLY!
As awesome as the new KTM 1190 Adventure R is, one area where it needs a little fine-tuning is in the air filtration department, as the stock paper filter element and air box have been shown to have trouble coping with Australia's outback dust conditions.
So Aussie brand UniFilter has leapt to the fore and created a very serious fix for the 1190's air box, which is now available from UniFilter dealers everywhere - check it out:
UniFilter, through Ficeda Accessories, is pleased to release its latest air filtering solution to the Australian market. Unifilter Australia has combined its 37 years of air filter design and manufacturing expertise as well as its new state of the art CNC manufacturing processes to develop the ultimate air filter for the KTM 1190 Adventure/R.
The kit includes everything you could hope for to provide the
best protection when exploring everywhere Australia and the world has to offer!
The kit includes: replacement two-stage panel filter, 2 x intake snorkel pre-cleaners and 1 x soft foam air box seal.
RRP is $69.95 and the part # AU1429KIT
It's available from all good motorcycle stores right now!
