Well Pete, Blazing Orange has just been added to the list of colors available for the US market according to MC USA. I really like the orange too, but I love the Purple (Deep Armour).

Is it me or does this thing look a little like the old V-Max from certain angles when looking at it from the front, unlike the monstrous VMax they actually produced.

I think it looks good and should be a great overall package. I know its been beat to death but sure wish they would have offered ABS as an option. They put all kids of other whizbang on it but leave off arguably the best safety feature we can get for the street. There really isn't an excuse for not offering ABS since the production cost for ABS has come down so far. For some this is not a reason to not buy I realize, but for me, if I am buying new it will have ABS. Oh and no my current bike doesn't have ABS and if I am buying used it is not as big of consideration. I personally just think that on new models it should be available at least. It can be a bacon savor in those oh crap moments that sneak up on motorcyclists at times. But just one time keeping you from washing out the front is worth the extra coin. Maybe next year.

It reminds me a lot of the FZx 750

Those were actually 700s in the US, remember poor Harley's 750cc tariff?

The Euro bikes with ABS will be on showrooms in December, so hopefully that will be the case for the US as well.

Same difference when it comes to styling.

Aside from the gaudy 80's Yamaha gold package, it's reminiscent.

Thumbs down

I was all about this bike for about 10 minutes. Then I saw the tank size. 3.7g? Seriously? WTF was Yamaha thinking? I had I bike with a 100 mile range before (Superhawk)... never again. What a pita.

Agreed 100%. I can't understand the marketing decision that would allow this to reach production. Unless this thing gets 50+ MPG (which I doubt), this is a deal breaker.

It's about wet weight > marketing.
And it'll probably do 50MPG.

My VFR does (nearly) 50 mpg and it has a 5.5g tank. I'm spoiled.

Well yeah, that's a sport-tourer, the FZ09 has nothing to do with
touring. It's like the Aprilia Dorsoduro, and that has even smaller tank and
even worse fuel consumption, you can't get 100 miles out of the tank.

Relax peeps, if yamaha ever has the intention to put the bike in touring clothes, it will address the obvious issues a touring bike has to have. Also, I'm sure that it has so far been thrashed by the journos, cause this is what journos do. Don't expect to see amazing fuel figures from a test ride of a bike made for fun.
