Crap! When you say in are you referring to the campsite? I'll give them a buzz and reshuffle the reservations. It's been a long day at work....

Cheers, James

Yes, interested in camping. Cheaper than a hotel and I sleep quite nicely in my hammock.

Hey Guys,

Per the girls at the performance center, the "no camping" they are referring to are RVs and travel trailers setting up in the parking lot. They were not willing to revel if there would be a camping element to the competition, but I would bet good money the setup would be simalar to last year.

Glad to see there will be a good showing from the ADV crowd.

Yeah, I got the same answer, but also "no on-site camping."
with a slight mention of local hotels & campgrounds.

OK, I have the site reservation updated at Paris Mtn. Campsite. I have reserved one spot(#23) that will hold two tents comfortably.

Cheers, James

Dudes, it is going to be epic. I'm still stunned that only 60ish people are signed up. That is crazy. I thought the last GS trophy would be the last one poorly attended. Not that I'm trying to increase the competition but check out the course and a schedule...

On the fence

I'm thinking about attending the GS Trophy Challange but am somewhat of a novice when it comes to dirt. Most of my off pavement riding is limited to gravel fire roads. How difficult is the challange? I'm planning to ride my bike there, whats the risk of damage that would put me on a greyhound for the ride of shame back to KY.

You have no worries. Go and enjoy.

Last tie they had two courses, a hard and an easier, that you could self select. There were some pretty novice and awful riders and no one got hurt.

You will learn, improve and have fun. GSes are indea

Excuse me... Indestructible. Worst comes to worst, you can skip an obstacle.

Anyone who has a GS anywhere near SC and doesn't do this is passing up a rare opportunity.

Well, the qualifier is going on this weekend... Looking forward to an update!

I have some questions on whether the subsequent rounds are self funded or not, but I'd rather hear about how the weekend went first. I hope a good time was had by all.

So, I went and was not what I was expecting, first day was all road stuff and a bit disappointing. Total riding time less than 40 min. Second day was dirt but many of the exercises were just the same as the street day, figure 8's, slalom etc. Total riding time ~1hr...maybe.

It was really great to meet a bunch of folks but if you are expecting to do a bunch of riding this event is not for you.

As far as the final round goes, they are still unsure where it's going to be

Bottom line, if you go into this expecting to meet a bunch of nice folks, then this is a great event. If your going to do a bunch of riding and not super down on meeting people, skip it.

Was last weekend a qualifying event for the international competition? ...with very little riding???
I'm still trying to learn how this thing works since I haven't come across a lot of details so far. Maybe they didn't tell you guys either?
