Great photos

OK I fall off a lot, but I was only concerned for your well being. Why do bikes fart and die when you can't get your foot on the ground????

Now I am goiong to have to hunt up that picture of Enookway looking dazed and confused after his KX/KDX hit a log on his first ride in the local forest. Pay back time Ian.

Just spent the better part of the weekend reading this RR. It is really out the top drawer. Script and photos are outstanding. Sorry to hear about the bike problems and I hope it is all sorted out quickly and 100% OK. Riding sand is my absolute worst. Looking at those photos of you in the outback and following on Google Earth I really do admire your riding abilities. Keep the reports and photos coming ang go safely.

so, ummmm... yeah, left Brisvegas..

headstem bearings made the bike fairly skitish on the bitumen... stopped in at a servo to put a bit more air in for the highway..

hooked up the air hose to the front, thought i had about 26psi in there, hose squirts a bit of air and the guage then says 16psi...huh?

have another go.. guage then says 4psi.... wtf?

stuff about a bit, conclude the air hose is rooted and ive now got 4psi in me front..

nothing for it but unpack a pannier and pull out old faithfull...

up to Caloundra, book in bike for new headstem bearings in 5 days time...

some interesting things in there.....

then on up to Noosa for a few nights at the backpackers...

.

.

.

.

Monday morning, first stop is Lachys place for a new jesse mount bracket..
everyone need a shed like his.... thanks again Lachy...

then on to the dealer..

left the bike there for the arvo and had a mosey around
Caloundra..

then back onto the bike and back up to Noosa for the last night..
next morning, one last coffee and off...

since i'd had a few days of sittin around, id worked out what i thought was a pretty good route...

some twisty bitumen heading west, over the main highway..
and into ??

they sell pineapples here

then its off north on the dirt...

.

until the GPS gives up the ghost....

I kinda know where i'm going thou..

until I get to a 'no entry' gate, with a few 'gun club' signs around it...

I continued thru a bit, but when I got to their shooting range, I decided to turn back...

took a different road..

which eventually came to this..

so I turned around and backtracked... and backtracked..

until I came to a German bakery that sold coffee and pork pies... and the world was good again...

Yeah, I know, that wasn't quite the update you wanted..

Plan was for it to be the full story w pictures upto now..

Got foiled by 1) just about hitting the monthly bandwidth limit on Photobucket, so having to reduce the size of photos, and 2) the Noosa library having an internet limit of one hour per day..

So, ya got what ya got..!

So, update..

I'm still in Noosa...

BMW is still paying me accommodation bill

The bike hasn't been really looked at yet..
(Seems BMW won't send a warranty fuel pump until the shop at least reproduces the problem.. they have one mechanic and are booked out for 3 weeks so can't afford to send him out on a 200km ride and then go rescue him...

There is talk it may go back to Brisbane... Don't think I'm too keen on that given the, Ummmmm, 'odd' things that happened to bike last time I was there (eg filthy air filter that was mint 240 km earlier... Oh and there insistance that cleaning out the fuel lines would solve a fueling issue that only occurs after riding 100 plus kms..

Anyway, we'll see,

I'm poolside in Noosa till at least Saturday if anyone's lookin for me..

Question Blast from the past

Hi Greg. I've only just found your thread, but it's kept me amused for days reading the whole thing. Good stuff.

Now, if your memory stretches back that far, can you tell me what was that rear tyre you put on 2-fiddy?

You missed a photo

Greg did you get a shot of where you over ran the corner? It was near that salt pan that we stopped near. Perhaps you were too busy unpuckering your butt to think of taking a shot of your tracks.

Maybe he traded his SPOT for the elusive "other" spot, the G one again....

Great RR

GA,I've been reading this RR over the last few days.As a pom it's an eye opener. When we see stuff about Oz it's almost always about the urban areas so it's great to see something about the small towns & riding away from the main routes, you've got some great riding there, not so sure about some of the wildlife though!.
Hope you get the fuel pump sorted sharpish & thanks for posting
