Hey Dan,

Glad to see you on here!

I recall killing a few starlings or sparrows - whatever little black birds they were - on Montana 232 north of Havre, MT last year. There would be dozens of them picking gravel bits on the highway and I guess their natural reaction to a threat is to scatter and fly around in random directions, changing direction constantly. If they'd just fly off to the right or the left, they'd be ok, but most would come pretty close to the bike.

I never noticed the ones that got hit by the bike, they were just too small. But there were two occasions were I was hit by a bird. It didn't really hurt me, but I'm sure it was terminally painful for the bird.

Ian

Glad you were both relatively OK. I have an HJC with the internal sun visor and I know that if I hit something, that damn thing is going to cut my nose. The problem is that the relief cut in the visor for your nose is really shallow. I'm not sure who it was designed for, but whoever it is has a tiny nose that barely protrudes from his face. I've been meaning to get at it with a Dremel and make some more room. I think I'll move that task a bit higher up my to-do list.
