I think a couple of us from CR are going. We went last year. Its was a fun ride. However, I need 2whlrcr to clear a couple things up (if he can get off his Iowa rant). Do we need a plate and is there some type of Illinois offroad permit required?

Yes you need a plate and lights. Nobody is checking what the plate is registered too and doubtful if anyone is checking to see if your lights work. Just don't show up with a Maglight duct taped to your front fender.

The IL offroad sticker has not been passed yet...I'm riding my bicycle, so I don't need one anyway.

so, what are all you guys doing now that casey's and kwik star (and I assume QT) aren't carrying 89 octane gas anymore? having their choices be 87 ethanol or 87 non-ethanol pretty much rules out buying gas from their smaller locations completely since my Civic and my Sportster need 89+ and the Buell is supposed to get 91+. Maybe this isn't an issue with the more-dirt oriented bikes, but now I basically can't ride anywhere more than half a tank of gas away from home, unless I want to only ride the major highways.

The Chuck Norris of gasoline...when you can find it without ethanol.

Or if you can find a BP. I know for a fact that not all BPs have ultimate. The one in Mount Vernon sure doesn't. I had the same assumption about them all having it, and went to fill up the Buell before a ride with my dad, and ended up having the choice of 87/89 just like the casey's across the highway. I can only assume that they and other 2-pump BPs will only carry 87/87 in the future as well.

I think that corner stop used to have ultimate, but that screwball that took over the place got rid of it. If I remember right he wanted to add diesel, but that was a while ago and I no longer work in that field to know if he followed through. And my memory appears to be shot.
