Yeah..! Picked up a tiny screwdriver for $4 from one of those hardware shops just before the sunshine coast motorway, just as they were closing, on my way back to Noosa after finally getting the fuel pump replaced..

Sat in a bar with a cold Coopers and made the necessary 'adjustments'.

Been fine ever since...

Oh and BMW roadside assist is happy to pick your bike up from your home address and tow it to the nearest dealer free of charge... But they won't get it home again for you...

Currently working out how to get 400km to the dealer to pick up me bike..

This RR is certainly not a good advertisement for BMW.
I don't think I have read of a bike with more problems, it must be frustrating.

I would think twice before considering buying one.

yeah i'm not sure i entirely agree...

sure the bike has had a few issues, but most of my frustration has been caused by the actual dealers..

(i.e take a bike in to dealer with a problem, tell them how to recreate it... then a week or so have them tell you you can have the bike back as they coulndnt find a problem...ask them if they'd done what you told them to do to recreate the problem and have them say 'no, we didnt have time...'

thats not the bike, thats shit service......

anyway, i'm out of warranty now, so i doubt i'll be seeing much of dealers from here on....

(although i still have to go 400kms to one to pick mine up (again cos BMW refuse to return it to me after towing it away from me...... shit service again....)

anyway, apologies for not getting around to finishing the rest of the queensland ride report... lost of pics etc to post... gonna be flat out til mid january but will get onto it again then......

So how do you figure you got the idle air control valve so gunked-up on such a new bike? What was your air filter like? If it was dirty fuel - it would not likely have got past the fuel filter.

......unless of course the IAC was improperly sealed/seated in the first place and was sucking in dirty air?

BYW.....glad to hear you have proper work to do till January - just so you you'll have more $ to spend wandering around and entertaining us in the new year!

Cheers,
J
