Yamaha has some great looking jet boats. I thought about them but decided the I/O better suited my purposes mainly because it's hard to get a big, heavy, deep-v jetboat and the water here's way too rough for smaller ones. They are a total blast on calm water though!
FWIW I had a chance to demo the new cobalts. Amazing how smooth, fast, and refined they are. The fiberglass and vinyl bits weren't much different from mine (I actually think mine looks slightly better), but the engine/steering is a very different feel nowdays. All very smooth, light effort controls that just tell the computer what you'd like to do.
I hated the joystick control though b/c the software is just plain wacky. When you transition from forward to reverse it reverses the direction of control inputs. I'm sure a person could get used to it, but I found it extremely unnatural and easier to dock with old fashioned throttles and wheel.
The new 302 with twin HO bigblocks and twin dual prop drives accelerates in an astounding manner. Lots of power (860 total I think) and lots of grip.
