Gear indicator possible on Honda CB Sevenfifty?

My wife rides a 2001 Honda CB Sevenfifty. She loves the bike, but would like to see which gear is engaged. Are there aftermarket gear indicators that work well with this type of bike? Has anyone tried this before? Replies based on hands-on experience wil be greatly appreciated!

AFAIK, modern cars and bikes know what gear they are in by two different methods; by either reading in vehicle speed and engine rpm determining position with known preprogrammed ratios, or by having some stuff inside the transmission that produces different output voltages for each gear and then sending that to the computer.

Thanks guys! The Universal Gear Indicator looks promising, since the Honda has a mechanical speedometer.
